– People who come to us during a pandemic are very often random people. Not the so-called “Professional alcoholics”, not those who have been drinking for 20 years, in the evenings, at weekends, but those who could not stand the pressure and began to dose their emotions with alcohol – says Leszek Polkowski, therapist and owner of an addiction treatment clinic, who was a guest of Iwona Kutyna in the Onet Morning program.

Therapist Leszek Polkowski pointed out that a pandemic is a particularly difficult time for people who are weak, sensitive and fearful. They cannot withstand the pressure, they are tormented by emotions, they are afraid for their future, and even for the present. – We’re at home, we can’t leave. We want to regulate our emotions. The closest and cheapest means is alcohol – explained the guest of the program. As he explained, the situation in the addiction treatment center he runs is difficult, and the need for help is enormous.
