Thealoz Duo is a sterile medical device in the form of drops, used in the eyes, also when wearing contact lenses. Thanks to the content of hyaluronic acid and trehalose, it has a regenerating, moisturizing and protective effect. It has a neutral PH, does not contain preservatives and phosphates. Action, indications and dosage of Thealoz Duo
Thealoz Duo is an aqueous solution that does not contain any preservatives or phosphates. The preparation can be applied both directly to the eye and to the concave part of the contact lens when it is removed or put on. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide that occurs naturally in the human body – in the skin, joints, nerves, hair, and in the eye’s tear film and vitreous body. It has a moisturizing and regenerating effect, and also protects the eyeball against external factors, reduces friction and discomfort. In addition, it remains on the surface of the eye even when blinking, which brings long-lasting relief, and the epithelial cornea heals faster.
Trehalose is a frequent component of artificial tears – it helps to keep the eye hydrated, regenerates, prevents irritation, and protects the eye tissue from excessive drying and oxidative stress that may affect their delicate capillaries.
The preparation has been used to alleviate symptoms dry eye syndrome, characterized by burning, stinging and dry eyes, as well as reducing irritation caused by external factors – dry air, air conditioning, pollution, smoke, wind and dust. Thealoz Duo has received positive feedback from people who work long hours at the computer and travel frequently by plane.
The solution can be instilled into the conjunctival sac and onto the contact lens as often as needed. To do this, the lower eyelid is opened and, looking up, the preparation is injected. Most often, one drop is used 4 to 6 times a day. Before starting the instillation, you should wash your hands thoroughly. The dropper should not touch objects or the surface of the eye, especially if there is a suspicion of infection. After administration, the bottle must be carefully closed.
Contraindications, side effects and drug interactions
Read the package leaflet carefully before using Thealoz Duo. It should not be used if the patient is allergic to any of its ingredients. Mild eye irritation is rarely mentioned among the side effects. After administering the solution, wait about 10 minutes and only then use other eye preparations.
