Our heroine was already over 40, when she managed to change literally beyond recognition.
Lisa Wright’s story will surely sound familiar to many mothers. Since childhood, I was plump, all the time trying to fight excess weight, tried a lot of diets, but nothing really helped. More precisely, while you are on a diet, the weight is reduced. It is worth at least a little to weaken control over oneself – the kilograms return, and even new ones are brought with them.
“The first time I decided to go on a diet was in the third grade. Then it was the beginning of many years of overeating, cleansing, testing on yourself all kinds of ways to lose weight. As soon as I heard about a new diet, I tried it, ”says Lisa.
A woman tried the most extreme way to lose weight when she was 20 years old. Then she was preparing for the wedding and trying to get in the best shape. The aspiration is commendable, but here’s the way …
“I ate half a sandwich a day and did cardio for hours,” says Lisa. – Then I really lost a lot, I have never weighed less. But the success was short-lived. By the end of the honeymoon, I had already regained four kilos. Then the others came back. ”
As the years passed, Lisa continued her experiments on herself. “I again and again lost and then gained the same 20 kilograms,” the woman shrugs. This is understandable: numerous pregnancies and childbirth do not contribute to weight loss. As a result, Lisa recovered to an insane 136 kilos – even for her height of 180 centimeters, it was too much. But at that time she was not pregnant either. And it was also lucky that such a serious weight did not provoke health problems. Well, yes, my back hurt, my knees – so this is another reason to give up sports.
Lisa decided to make another attempt to lose weight six years ago. She was then 40 years old, she recently gave birth to her eighth child.
“I had two daughters growing up. I didn’t want them to have the same weight problems as me, ”explains the mother of many children.
This time, Lisa made a promise to herself: not to fanatically monitor the weight, getting on the scales five times a day. She was determined to be patient and tune in to slow change. I sat down on a keto diet, the weight went down, but then she … became pregnant again. After the birth of her ninth baby, Lisa decided to try keto again.
“I told myself that if I really wanted to, I could return to my usual diet at any time. It was important for me to understand this – I don’t know why. And it worked. ” She still seems to be surprised that her usual diet has ceased to appeal to her.
Liza really didn’t want any more sweets. The keto diet allows her to eat a lot of protein and fatty foods, so she did not feel hungry, and the weight crawled down. And then there’s another novelty: intermittent fasting.
“I decided to try it too. At first, the break between dinner and breakfast the next day was 16 hours for me: I had supper at 17:00, had breakfast no earlier than nine in the morning. Now my interval without food is already 20 hours. And you know, with such a regime, my energy noticeably increased, and food began to bring real pleasure, ”says Lisa.
Then sports were added to the diets: half-hour home workouts with YouTube videos. Further more. Lisa started to run, strength training appeared. After 11 months, she lost an incredible 45 kilograms – without starving for a second. Then the weight left more slowly, but Lisa was able to lose another 15 kg. Now she weighs a completely healthy 75 kilograms – not a fit girl, not a model, but just a slender, fit, energetic woman. Lisa feels great, but she does not recommend her method of losing weight to anyone.
“I tried for a long time, chose, and this method suited me. I think everyone should find their own way, which will really work and will not make you a slave to diet or sports, ”says Lisa.
By the way, doctors are still wary of the keto diet – it is by no means impossible to recommend it to everyone en masse. Yes, it gives good results in the short term. But how will it affect the body in the long term?
Nutritionist, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Head of Dietetics, European Medical Center
“The keto diet was originally recommended as a therapeutic food for epilepsy. Now it has become just another fashionable diet that many people follow, not fully understanding whether it is necessary or not, whether it will bring any benefit. Yes, when following a keto diet, body weight decreases quite quickly, which, of course, additionally motivates a person.
But the keto diet is quite limited, it does not provide us with the required amount of a number of nutrients. The main thing that is severely limited in such a food system is carbohydrates, and not only the notorious “sugars”, but also the so-called complex carbohydrates (cereals, pasta, etc.), which should provide us with energy, give us a feeling of satiety, are a source of a number of important substances. Many vegetables and legumes are also excluded from the ketogenic diet, and meanwhile they are the main helpers for the trillions of beneficial bacteria that live in the large intestine – the microbiota, on the composition of which a lot in the body depends.
