The weirdest baby names 2017

I wonder what influences the exuberant imagination of parents in the capital?

Finally, the Moscow Civil Registry Office summed up the results of last year in terms of children’s names. The list of rare ones includes relatively classic ones: Lyudmila, Galina, Inna, Zinaida and Larisa are among the girls. Boys are relatively rarely called Valentines, Gennady, Vitaly, Anatoly and Valeriy.

We have already talked about popular names: in the first place are the boys Alexander, followed by Mikhail, Artem, Maxim and Daniel. The most popular girl’s name was Sofia. As many as 3780 newborn girls were named so! In second place is Mary – this name appeared in 2709 birth certificates. Breakaway so breakaway! In addition, in 2017, the names Anna, Alice, Anastasia, Alexandra and Victoria were popular.

But the most interesting thing is all the same unusual names that surprised the experienced registry office employees. It turns out that some young mothers and fathers decided to return to their origins and chose old Russian names for their sons. Now there are Velesvet, Ladomir, Patricki and Kharlampy in Moscow. Apparently, a very athletic family called the child forward. Orpheus – and such a name also appeared in the records. One married couple named the child Franklin – it seems to us that an international marriage takes place here. And here’s North – maybe the boy’s parents are fans of the Kardashian-West family? Well, or also a mixed marriage.

Among the girlish names, there are also many unusual ones. For example, Zlatozar, Ladislav, Vassai and Isidora. Agrafena, Dorothea and Iskra are more familiar to the Russian ear, but they are pretty much forgotten.

“Parents are most often guided not by fashion, but by the desire to give their son or daughter a beautiful, at the same time uncommon name,” – Irina Muravyova, head of the Moscow Civil Registry Office, explained the flight of imagination of young parents.

I am glad that all the names, although unusual, are euphonic. What can not be said about the boy who lives without documents because of the desire of his parents to name him BOC rVF 260602 – Biological Object of a Human of the Voronin-Frolov family, born on 26.06.2002.
