The water was turned off during washing, what should I do? 2 ways to solve the problem

Was the water turned off while the washing machine was running? No one is immune from such emergency situations. Therefore, the user must be aware of what to do. Leave everything as it is and wait for the water supply? Or still stop washing and get things out of the tank? We know how to solve the problem.

Why is water not entering the washing machine?

However, we recommend that you interrupt the program and remove the laundry from the tub. Why? The answer is simple – low-quality water. Many have come across a rusty and cloudy liquid that comes out of the tap after being turned off. Often there are also large pieces of rust and debris. Now imagine that all this abundance will fall on your linen.

The picture is unpleasant, besides, it will be difficult to remove rust from things after such a “wash”. But in addition to clothing, equipment will also suffer. Debris will clog the intake filter and valve, blocking the operation of the AGR. The fact is that from the water supply, water passes through the hose and is passed through the filter mesh, after which it is again passed through the valve into the tank of the machine.

When large particles clog the filter, the appliance cannot take the water, so the wash does not start. And if the valve is clogged, it will be necessary to disassemble the body and check the element. Therefore, it is best to turn off the machine, drain the water from the tank and remove the laundry. As soon as water of normal quality comes out of the tap, washing can be restored.

Turned off the water: what to do?

Now let’s take a closer look at the algorithm of actions. Start by resetting the program:

  • Press and hold the Start/Pause or Stop-Pause button (depending on model).
  • When the program is reset, the machine will beep or the indicators on the panel will light up.

If desired, run the spin mode, then the CMA will simply wring out the laundry, and you can hang it up. If the machine stops with a full drum of water, then:

  • Close the inlet valve.
  • Wring out the latches of the plinth panel under the hatch.
  • Substitute the container.
  • Unscrew the drain filter.
  • Drain the tank.

In some models, draining can be done through a small hose that is located near the filter. After the liquid has been completely removed, open the hatch and remove the laundry. As soon as there is clean water in the tap, load things and press the “Start / Pause” button again. The program should continue from the same place.

How to help without removing the laundry from the tank?

If you have no desire to get, squeeze and hang things, then just shut off the inlet valve. Monitor your tap water and start the mode as soon as it’s safe to do so.

However, this method does not give a 100% guarantee that rust will not enter the tank. We still recommend to play it safe and remove clothes. And after switching on, check the filter mesh. You can do it like this:

  • Disconnect the inlet hose from the housing.
  • Behind it is a grid. Rinse it with strong water. You can use a brush with citric acid.

Screw the hose back on and start the washing program. Let the technician finish what he started and take clean clothes out of the drum.

Finally, let’s say that if you are faced with the fact that SMA does not take water, the reason may be not only in the shutdown. Worth checking:

  • inlet valve;
  • condition of the inlet hose (it should not be bent or squeezed);
  • tightness of the closing of the hatch door (a click should be heard).

As you can see, there is nothing difficult in solving the problem. It is better to take care of the cleanliness of the laundry in advance by removing it from the drum. This video will help you understand:
