The atypical “behavior” of the automatic machine is a clear sign of its malfunction. Often a situation arises when the washing machine has been washing without stopping for more than two hours instead of the usual one. A logical question arises: what to do? In any problem situation, you need to start with a search for a breakdown and only then proceed to active actions.
Why the machine does not finish washing
The washing machine has a complex design with many mechanisms that wear out over time and require repair or replacement. Therefore, the reasons why washing does not stop for a long time are very different. Some may indicate the failure of component parts, others may indicate improper operation or connection of the equipment itself.
If SMA erases longer than usual, this indicates the following:
- malfunction of the water supply system;
- improper connection of the drain hose;
- clogging of the drain system;
- breakage of the pressure switch;
- failure of the heating element (heater);
- malfunction of the electronic module.
To find out which violations in the work of the SMA can be eliminated on your own, and which ones – only with the help of a wizard, you should learn more about them.
Problems with the water supply system
This is one of the most common SMA problems. If for some reason water does not enter the body of the device properly, the cycle time may increase significantly. In this case, you should:
- check the pressure in the tap;
- clean the mesh filter from possible blockage;
- check intake valve operation.
Such actions will definitely help eliminate the problem with a slow set of water.
Incorrect drain hose connection
Failure to follow the rules when installing this part can cause constant circulation of liquid in the CMA body, and therefore, a long wash. Getting into the tank, part of it will slowly but continuously merge into the sewer. Therefore, the machine will be forced to constantly compensate for the amount drained by a set of new portions.
To avoid such a situation, the installation of the device must be carried out according to the operating instructions.
Clogged drain system
If the machine freezes during the rinsing or spinning phase, the outflow of dirty liquid is most likely disturbed. In this case, you need to check the drain filter, nozzles and pipes for the possible presence of dirt and debris. The problem will be solved by their thorough cleaning, and it is better to replace the pipes.
The cause of the breakdown of the drain may be the wear of the drain pump (pump). It is better to replace it with a new one, since after repair a worn part is unlikely to work for a long time.
Failure of the pressure switch
The machine will constantly pour water even if the pressure switch malfunctions, which controls the presence or absence of it in the tank. The sensor will no longer be able to send a signal to the control board that there is enough fluid and the supply should be stopped. As a result of this, its excess is formed in the tank, which will leave through the drain hose, creating a continuous water cycle.
Heating element failure
Often the heating element stops working properly due to the scale formed on it. Then the water heats up very weakly (or does not heat up at all) and it fails to reach the temperature set by the program. And if one of the conditions of the programmed cycle is not met, the washer will not receive instructions to continue the cycle and freeze. In order for the electric heater to start working correctly, often a simple descaling is enough. But if the heating element is worn out, it is better to replace it.
To prevent a recurrence of the situation, regularly use special anti-scale products. Such preventive measures significantly extend the life of the heating elements.
Malfunction of the control module
If the washing machine works as it should (washes, rinses, wringes), but after completing one cycle, it immediately starts a second one, then the problem lies in the control board. If an electronics failure occurs, the CMA will not recognize the end of this wash cycle and will automatically start a new one. This situation is dangerous not only for the equipment itself, but also for delicate things, the washing of which takes place according to a strictly defined time.
Error Codes
A good helper in determining the breakdown of the automatic machine are error codes, which are more likely to be displayed on the scoreboard, announcing the failure.
If the drain system of the Indesit CMA is damaged, F-05 will appear on the display.
F-04 or F-10 will notify you of a pressure switch failure. In this case, the control module will receive a signal that the tank is empty and full at the same time. But the H20 error in Ariston machines can indicate several breakdowns at once: a failure in the control board, lack of fluid supply or its self-draining.
If the tank is not filled in the allotted time to a certain level, or, conversely, is filled faster than the set time period, the LG washer will give a PE error. Then the cause must be sought in the pressure switch or check the water pressure in the water supply.
Each washer has its own error marking. A complete list of them is in the user manual of the device. But if the electronics break down, the breakdown code will not be displayed, which means you will have to look for the malfunction yourself.
When you need specialist help
With clogged filters, hoses or their replacement, with certain skills, it is quite possible to cope on your own. But internal damage without the involvement of the master is unlikely to be eliminated. Therefore, it is better not to take risks, but to entrust the repair to a specialist. The only way to help the master is to report the error code on the CMA display (if it appears). So the specialist will be aware of the nature of the problem in advance and will be able to take the necessary tools and spare parts with him. And this will significantly speed up the process of diagnosing and repairing the washer.
