The walls of the slide in the living room: types, styles, choice, photo

Modern trends in interior design require a minimum amount of furniture. According to this concept, most of the things should be stored in storage systems. But not everyone and not always succeeds or wants to fully follow these rules. Cabinet furniture is still necessary, albeit not in the same quantity or form as before. For example, the walls of the slide in the living room. Modern options are far from a set of cabinets, but interesting and diverse furniture ensembles.

Types of modern furniture slides

Before choosing the walls of the slide in the living room, consider what you want to place on this furniture. Someone needs to store clothes, so there must be a wardrobe and chest of drawers. Someone plans to place dishes, so you need a special cupboard for dishes. For someone, a slide in the hall is needed to install video and audio equipment. So you need large shelves. Someone plans to place books – in order to be able to do this, there must be a lot of shelves. There are also options that serve only to install a TV and decorative items. In general, it is necessary to select a furniture wall based on your needs.

Choosing the walls of the slide in the living room, we must also talk about the shape and size. There are three types of furniture:

  • Along one wall. Such a wall can occupy the entire wall from edge to edge, or maybe only some part. In the second case, they try to place it in the middle of the wall so that it remains approximately the same on both sides.

  • Corner. A good option for small rooms or if everything you want does not fit on one wall.
  • U-shaped. This is an option for spacious living rooms, as such ensembles look good only in large volumes.

without cabinets

If you have a wardrobe or dressing room in your house and there is enough storage space for things, you can do without wardrobes altogether. In this case, the walls of the slide in the living room consist of drawers and shelves. They make low wide floor boxes on which you can place a TV, other equipment, and decor items. Above, open or closed shelves-lockers are hung on the wall. Moreover, their shape is most often non-linear – broken, boxes of different heights can even be used. The main thing is to arrange them correctly. A few examples of modern wall slides for a living room without cabinets in the photo gallery.

Strictly speaking, this is a set of pedestals and hanging cabinets of various configurations, but for good measure they are also called slide walls.

Mini pooches

You won’t put bulky furniture in small living rooms – it will finally “eat up” the volume, which will make the room uncomfortable and uncomfortable. For such cases, there are mini-walls. They literally consist of several items – a couple of cabinets on which they put a TV and appliances, a small closet and / or chest of drawers. Above – above the cabinet for more can be located several shelves of an open or closed design.

These walls of the slide in the living room should also be chosen according to their functionality. You will have to store something in them. So think about which of the samples will be more convenient for you. Open shelves will be needed so that you can put your favorite books or decor items, but dust quickly accumulates on them and this is also worth keeping in mind.

Linear and angular

In a medium-sized living room, linear or corner walls are most often placed. As already mentioned, the number of cabinets, chests of drawers, drawers, lockers is chosen based on what things and in what quantity they will have to be stored in. If you need a lot of cabinets so that they do not look bulky, choose a light color for the doors. Some doors can be made of translucent glass and these cabinets can be illuminated. This will make the furniture even less “pressing” and such an ensemble looks more modern.

You can make furniture visually lighter if the lower part is dark and the upper part is light. Not necessarily white. Colors are suitable but milky, light beige, creamy, light gray, etc. In the same range with a dark bottom, but much lighter.

A little about the arrangement of furniture in the wall slide for the living room. If there are cabinets, with a linear arrangement they are placed along the edges, leaving the middle almost empty – a low cabinet is placed under the TV installation, a couple of shelves can be placed on top.

Much less common are wall models of slides, in which wardrobes and utensils or canisters are interspersed with shelves and are located not at the edges, but in an arbitrary place. It cannot be said that this type of furniture arrangement is worse. It’s just more original and non-standard.

The corner walls of the slide in the living room are much more diverse in terms of furniture arrangement. Sometimes cabinets also stand at the edges, the middle is occupied by low cabinets, in the center (in the corner) there is a place for a TV. There is an opposite layout – in the center – a corner cabinet (or cabinets), along the edges are low cabinets and shelves above them.

The corner walls of the slide in the living room can completely occupy one wall and only capture a small part of the adjoining one. This is convenient if the room is small and there is a window not far from the corner. It is the corner layout option that will make it possible to more rationally use the space that cannot be used otherwise.

Modular slide walls

Making furniture to order is not bad, but it is expensive and usually takes a long time to wait. Standard options are also not suitable for everyone – either the height, or the length, or the layout do not suit. Therefore, furniture manufacturers began to make collections of cabinets, bedside tables, shelves in the same style and color, but in different sizes. From these components, as from a designer, you make up your own version of the wall of the slide – according to your needs and dimensions of the room. Not a bad idea, especially when you consider that the cost is low: the set is standard, mass production, the cost is lower.

Some furniture factories or workshops offer a certain set of colors in which each of the systems is produced. This expands the possibilities of combination more. In general, if you need an inexpensive wall slide in the living room, take a closer look at modular systems.

Selection of material and color

Choosing the model and composition of cabinets is only part of the task. It is also necessary to decide on the material from which the furniture will be made, as well as the color and type of surface.

The walls of the slide in the living room, like any other furniture, are made of wood, MDF and chipboard. Wooden belongs to the premium class, has a high price. The cheapest furniture is made of chipboard. Economy class models are made from this material. Chipboard – the middle price segment.

Inexpensive wall-slides in the living room are made of chipboard

What are the disadvantages of chipboard? The fact that in its production a binder is used – glue, which emits substances harmful to health. In hazardous quantities, these substances are emitted from low quality material with an emission class of E2 and higher. If the E1 or E0 chipboard emission class is considered harmless and it is even allowed to make children’s furniture from it (class E0), the walls of the slide in the living room and even more so. When buying furniture, be interested in certificates for chipboard in order to control the quality of the material.

Color design principles

A separate topic is the choice of color and type of surface. The color design depends on the style of the interior, the dominant colors in the design, the dimensions of the room and, finally, on the tastes and desires of the owners. So it’s almost impossible to give advice in absentia. But there are a few universal rules, applying which you can make a good choice.

There are three main types of color combinations that are used in interior design:

  • Monochromatic. This is when all objects are of the same color, but different shades – for example, brown and all its shades or gray in all its diversity. You can add neutral tones – white, gray, a little black. A few bright spots will do, but they should not be many.
  • Harmonious. The combination of colors is different, but close – red with orange, blue and green. It is difficult to advise here, you need to look at the types of selected colors.
  • contrast. The colors are different, but quite compatible – purple with green, yellow with blue, etc. The interior in a contrasting style is suitable for active and creative people, but it can quickly get bored.

    Color combination may vary

In any case, one color is dominant and there are many of them, all the rest are in details and accessories. As applied to the design of the living room, the main color is usually painted on the walls and added to some furnishings.

Based on this principle, you need to decide what color – dominant or complementary – will be your wall slide for the living room. If you want to transfer accents to it, then the color should distinguish it from the situation, if it is only a background, the color is close to the main color.

Furniture colors and their perception

Most often, furniture is made in brown tones – from dark brown to light beige tones. Quite often you can see black, gray and white ensembles, colored ensembles are not so common – they require a careful selection of style and accessories, which is quite difficult. Consider how the most common colors for the wall in the living room are perceived.

  • Brown. Creates a feeling of confidence, stability and comfort. Dark shades make the interior heavy, well-established, solid. It fits into almost any style without problems, traditionally combined with white, beige, green, looks good with blue. Suitable for spacious rooms, making the atmosphere more intimate.

  • Black. It is a very cold color, in large quantities it can cause anxiety. But as an accent, it perfectly harmonizes the interior. If the walls in your living room and the rest of the furniture are very light, a black wall slide will fit in wonderfully, creating a contrast.

If the black is glossy, it doesn’t look so gloomy.
  • Grey. A neutral color that serves as a great backdrop for brighter things. If you need to highlight some other group in the living room, the furniture wall can be gray. Also gray can be combined with other colors. Dark shades look good with red trim, medium ones look good with pink, green, purple.

  • White. A color that expands the boundaries, makes the room look bigger. This color in any of its shades is combined with any other color. That’s why it’s been so popular lately. It can be used in small rooms to visually increase the volume.

  • Beige. Another one of the neutral colors. It goes well with any bright color. It feels not as sterile as white, but not as “heavy” as brown. Often combined with dark brown, bright red, pink, turquoise, purple, azure. The beige wall slide for the living room will perfectly emphasize the texture of the floor and ceiling, serve as a backdrop for bright designer gizmos.

And all these colors can be combined with bright or suitable ones. Black is often paired with white or beige. It also goes with any bright color. To white generally add any. So there are a lot of options.

The choice of color also implies the choice of the type of surface – textured, matte, glossy or semi-gloss. They all look different with the same color. If you need to create a chamber, cozy atmosphere, matte, deep tones are suitable. For light interiors in high-tech style, minimalism, you can use gloss or semi-gloss. Just keep in mind that glossy surfaces will often have to be rubbed to keep their attractive appearance.
