Many women wonder what their body will look like after pregnancy, especially after childbirth. Of course, all changes are inevitable, but they are a natural consequence of pregnancy. The pregnant woman wonders if she will return to her pre-pregnancy weight, whether stretch marks will appear, and finally what her vagina will look like after childbirth.
Pregnancy and puerperium are an individual matter for each woman, the symptoms of their intensity vary for each pregnant woman, and the issue of puerperium is similar. One of the questions is what does the vagina look like after childbirth? What a woman’s perineum looks like after childbirth depends on several factors.
Vagina after childbirth – changes in appearance
Childbirth is a difficult experience for a woman, not only mentally but also physically. It is a great effort, but a woman’s body is prepared for it. Relasin and estrogens are hormones that enable and facilitate childbirth. The task of relaxin is to relax the pubic symphysis, which is to allow the baby to exit through the birth canal. On the other hand, estrogens are responsible for stretching the vagina during labor and increasing blood flow.
What the vagina looks like after childbirth depends on several factors, including the individual predispositions of the woman, as well as how the childbirth proceeded. In most cases, the vagina becomes looser during the puerperium period, which is not only an effect of hormones, but also of the baby’s passage. The organ should return to its appearance and size approximately 6 to 8 weeks after birth. Unfortunately, this process may slow down when your newborn is breastfed. Some women find that their vagina is narrower than it was before giving birth, this may be due to improper sewing. Not only the different appearance and size of the vagina are a side effect of childbirth, it also happens that a woman has problems with incontinence and defecation, which is a result of the large size of the baby that could damage the connective tissue. The vagina after delivery may also be a different color, it may be bruised, but this condition should go away after a few weeks.
A lot depends on how the delivery was going, whether it was long and whether it went without complications. If the labor lasted several or several hours, the postpartum vagina may take a long time to look like before the birth. Severe births may cause the organ to return to its original state even after several months. It is also important whether the woman is the firstborn or gives birth to another child. Unfortunately, undesirable changes can be caused by the perineal incision, which is practiced in women who give birth for the first time and is a necessary procedure because it reduces the risk of perineal tear. Healing wounds may take several weeks, a lot depends on a woman, her way of life and proper hygiene. In a situation where a pregnant woman gives birth by caesarean section, the vagina should not be changed after delivery.
Vagina after childbirth – exercises
The vagina can return to its original shape and size faster if a woman performs specialized exercises. It is about exercising the pelvic floor muscles. The exercise is simple and quick, 5 minutes is enough, three times a day. What exactly is the exercise? The woman should contract the anal and vaginal muscles for about 5 seconds to ensure control of the muscles. These are exercises that not only make the vagina look much better, but also reduce the risk of urinary incontinence.
Another way to exercise your pelvic floor muscles is to use geisha balls:
- kulki gejszy Pretty Love Kegel Tighten Up III;
- Teneo Uno geisha balls – an improved version;
- Teneo Duo geisha balls – an improved version;
- Luna – replaceable Lelo geisha balls (set of 4)
- progressive Ami Je Joue geisha balls of various sizes and shapes.
