The use of schisandra chinensis in medicine. Video
Schisandra chinensis has recently become increasingly popular among gardeners. Interest in it is caused by its healing properties, many other plants could envy them.
Schisandra chinensis in folk medicine
Wild lemongrass is found mainly in the Far East – in the Primorsky Territory, the Amur Region, as well as in the south of Sakhalin. The plant loves rich sandy loam and well-drained soils, usually growing on the lower part of the slopes, next to water. At an early age, lemongrass is quite shade-tolerant, but when it reaches fruiting age, it requires good lighting.
The indigenous inhabitants of the Far East (Nanai, Tungus, Aleuts, Udege and others) have long been well aware of the valuable qualities of the Chinese magnolia vine; its berries were brewed to make tea. The drink had tonic properties, eliminated even severe fatigue, restored strength and gave vigor. In the harsh natural conditions, the Far Eastern inhabitants highly appreciated the tinctures from this plant.
Chinese lemongrass has been known to people since ancient times. The ancient Chinese already knew its “five tastes”: the skin of the berries is sweet and salty, the juice is very sour, and the seeds have a burning taste, resinous and astringent
Before going hunting or on a long hike, people took with them dried fruits and seeds of lemongrass. During the breaks, the first thing they did was to prepare a tonic tea in order to effectively restore their strength, quickly gaining a boost of vivacity. Sometimes the leaves of the plant, also popularly known as “lemon”, were taken as a basis for tea.
Modern Science: Plant Research
Recently, scientists have tried to uncover even more secrets of the Chinese magnolia vine. Now its benefits and strength are officially confirmed by the results of scientific research. The use of lemongrass and preparations based on it is recommended both for healthy people (after fatigue, in case of decreased performance and lethargy, with spring vitamin deficiency), and for those who suffer from hypotension, psychosthenia, as well as vegetative-vascular dystonia of the hypotonic type.
At the same time, contraindications have been established. The berries of the Chinese schisandra should not be consumed if the patient has an individual intolerance to certain components. They are also not recommended for people with increased nervous excitability and hypertension, contraindicated in cardiac disorders and severe atherosclerosis, pregnancy and during the lactation period. You can not use drugs from Chinese lemongrass and children under 12 years of age.
Doctors warn: Chinese lemongrass should only be taken until 18 pm, otherwise there is a risk of spending the night without sleep
The researchers did not find any substances with toxic properties, for example, alkaloids or glucosides, in the fruits of the Chinese magnolia vine.
With caution, it is worth using lemongrass preparations for people suffering from diseases in which sleep is disturbed.
