Linden is one of the most famous medicinal plants. It is used in both traditional pharmacology and folk medicine. On its basis, various medicinal decoctions and infusions are prepared. Linden is also used as a weight loss aid.

The use of linden in medicine

Linden tea has been used since ancient times to treat colds. The thing is that the flowers of this plant contain many useful elements – carotene, talicin, vitamin C. Flowers also have diuretic properties. A decoction prepared on the basis of linden is used in the treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system. It is also effective in the fight against weight loss. Linden can also be used during pregnancy, but in very small quantities.

Linden is a great remedy for insomnia

It can help cope with headaches, neuralgia, colic and even food poisoning.

Linden flower infusion is used to prevent fainting, get rid of seizures. If you rinse your throat or mouth with infusion, you can cure sore throat and other inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity.

But not only linden flowers have medicinal properties. For example, charcoal obtained from dried bark removes toxins from the human body. That is why tablets containing coal are prescribed for diarrhea, allergies, and poisoning. A decoction made from linden bark is effective in treating burns and wounds.

The fruits of the plant contain a large amount of nutritious oil, which is similar in taste to almond oil. This oil is used to prevent nosebleeds. Crushed linden buds are applied to boils, burns, abscesses.

Despite the unique properties of linden, there are limitations. For example, tea made from flowers is not recommended to be consumed often, as it can negatively affect the cardiovascular system.

Recipes for making infusions and decoctions from linden

You will need:

  • Linden
  • boiling water
  • raspberry fruit
  • oregano
  • mother and stepmother

For colds (cough, bronchitis), it is recommended to take an infusion prepared from linden flowers. To prepare it, pour 1 tablespoon of the plant with a glass of boiling water. Close the container with a tight lid, wrap it up with a terry towel. After an hour, strain the mixture. Take 250 ml 3-4 times a day.

If you have a sore throat, you can gargle with this infusion. This should be done as often as possible.

You can also prepare a decoction for compresses. Pour 4 tablespoons of flowers with 500 ml of water. Put the container on fire, boil for 15 minutes.

To get rid of intestinal colic, take a linden blossom bath. Pour 10 handfuls of flowers with a liter of hot water, put on fire and boil. Remove from heat, cover with a lid, pour the broth into the finished bath after 15 minutes.

The time of the water procedure should not exceed 15 minutes

For rheumatism, you can use an infusion prepared from several herbs. Mix the linden flowers, raspberries, oregano and coltsfoot in equal proportions (2 tablespoons each). Brew 500 ml of boiling water, leave for 10 minutes, strain through cheesecloth. The infusion should be drunk hot.
