The use of laundry soap in hair care. Video
Laundry soap is a hair care product that has been the cause of much controversy for a long time. Some believe that it harms hair, while others, on the contrary, are sure that it only makes hair more beautiful and healthier. When using laundry soap, you must adhere to some rules, then it will really bring undoubted benefits.
Composition and properties of laundry soap
Laundry soap is based on saturated fatty acids (lauric, palmitic and stearic) – no more than 72%. Thanks to them, the soap has hardness, foaming and detergent qualities. The source of fatty acids is natural organic raw materials of animal or vegetable origin and fat substitutes. Laundry soap is made from technical fats, which are obtained from various raw materials and are not suitable for food use.
In addition, soap consists of a large amount of caustic alkali (approximately 0,15–0,20%), as a result of which it has a very high pH value – pH 11–12
The benefits and harms of laundry soap for hair
The fatty acids that make up the laundry soap actively affect the hair, nourish and moisturize it. Therefore, washing with this product is especially suitable for owners of dry and damaged hair. The main thing is not to overdo it, since the alkali contained in the soap can completely dry the hair and wash off the color, especially black. To avoid troubles when using laundry soap, you must follow some rules for this procedure.
You also need to be careful with dyed hair.
How to wash your hair with laundry soap
In order not to injure the hair structure, the head must be washed not with the laundry soap itself, but with a soap solution prepared from it. After the procedure, it is very important to rinse your hair with acidified cool water – this will help to instantly restore the alkaline balance, since acetic acid neutralizes the alkali that is part of the soap.
Contraindications to the use of laundry soap for hair
It is strictly forbidden to use laundry soap as a care product for colored hair. If this rule is neglected, the hair will become dry, thin and dull. If the hair is dyed with natural products, for example, henna, basma, onion peel and so on, which do not contain alkali, you can use a solution of laundry soap to wash it, but you just need to rinse it with acidified water.
Using laundry soap can help fight dandruff, breakage and split ends. But only use it as a hair care product must be extremely careful, observing all the above recommendations.
