The health minister announces the end of the epidemic
– I made the decision to transform the epidemic into an epidemic emergency from May 16. This is not to lift the epidemic, but to switch the red light in the traffic light, which has been on for two years, to the orange lightwhich indicates that there is a risk, there is a threat, but the situation is going in the right direction and the assessment of the situation is much better – explained the minister.
– Such a legal situation (state of epidemic threat – ed.) Allows us to remain ready to introduce legislative changes, but at the same time we send a signal that our risk assessment is definitely better. We will be sensitizing all the time and talking about the symbolic orange light, that we may be dealing with a trend reversal. The real test of where we are with the epidemic will be September, when (…) we expect increased transmission. Therefore, we will maintain the state of emergency at least until September.
– The situation is developing in line with our expectations. As we forecasted at the beginning of April, the downward trend in infections and hospitalization is taking place (…). The epidemic is slowly moving towards endemic – said the Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski during the press conference.
As he added, the ministry is constantly monitoring the epidemiological situation. – If we look at what is happening on the side of new cases, today’s figure of 611 roughly reflects the average number over the past two weeks. (…) From week to week we observe a continuation of declines all the time, the dynamics from week to week is at the level of -35%. nationwide.
The epidemic in Poland – recent changes
A month has passed since the last covid restrictions were lifted. At the turn of March and April, the obligation to isolate oneself in the event of a coronavirus infection and quarantine by travelers and cohabitants with COVID-19 patients disappeared. Poles could also put aside protective masks – the only places where they should still be worn are pharmacies and healthcare entities.

Lifting the state of the epidemic does not mean that we can forget about the coronavirus. COVID-19 is still diagnosed in Poland, although the number of new cases is difficult to determine due to limited testing for the presence of SARS-CoV-2.
