The rubber band on the refrigerator burst, what to do

Is ice and snow forming in your refrigerator? Do you think that the reason is an internal breakdown? Ordinary sealing rubber can lead to such consequences. If the rubber band on the refrigerator is broken or damaged, urgent measures must be taken. How to proceed, what to do to troubleshoot, read the article.

Causes and signs of seal failure

For high-quality cooling of products, warm air should not enter the refrigerating chamber, therefore a rubber seal is provided on the door. What signs indicate problems with it:

  • snow and ice on the walls;
  • constant operation of the motor-compressor.

Check if it fits snugly against the door. If there are no visible cracks, then you need to look for small gaps. Apply the probe method:

  1. Take a thin sheet of paper.
  2. Press it with the door, and then try to pull it out.
  3. Check all around.

If the sheet is pulled out with difficulty, then the rubber is performing its function normally. If the sheet falls out and pulls out easily, then there is a problem.

The sealing gum could become clogged with debris and crumbs, then it needs to be cleaned. To do this, take a sponge with a drop of detergent and ammonia and wipe the seal around the perimeter.

To restore the shape of the gum, pour a thin stream of boiling water over it. Flatten the seal while it is still hot.

If the seal cannot be restored, it is cracked and has lost its expiration date, it must be replaced. To do this, select the exact analogue of the old gum. It is important that it matches the model of your refrigerator: an inappropriate seal may not fit into place or will not last long.

Self replacement

Do this:

  1. Remove the door from the hinges and lay it on a flat surface.
  2. Remove the old rubber by making cuts at the joints.
  3. To pull the seal out of the seat, you can use tweezers.
  4. Install new rubber, glue it at the joints.

Now you can use the refrigerator again. Do not forget to clean the seal in time to avoid breakage.

Broken back wall of refrigerator

The normal operation of the refrigerator is to completely isolate the chambers, so depressurization of the case is a serious problem. If you notice that ice is forming inside the refrigerator, the cause may be a violation of the back wall of the refrigerator.

When the back wall bursts from the outside, ice can freeze on it. This contributes to an increase in the gap, due to which moisture penetrates inside, violating thermal insulation. This problem needs to be dealt with urgently.

The cause of such a breakdown could be a refrigerant leak. Then frost or frost can be seen on the tube.

What do we have to do:

  1. Disconnect equipment from the network.
  2. Remove wet insulation.
  3. Replace it with new insulation or mounting foam.
  4. Close the insulation with foil.

Repair completed. Only the master can determine the refrigerant leak, after which he will eliminate the cause of the leak and refuel the system with freon.

Cracked refrigerator interior

If the operating rules are violated, a crack may appear on the inner wall of the refrigerator. Often, users of drip-type refrigerators try to speed up defrosting by breaking off ice with a knife or other object. Such actions lead to damage and depressurization of the equipment.

If the plastic inside the wall is not too damaged, it can be restored. To do this, use a spatula or silicone sealant. The wall surface is preliminarily degreased, then a sealant is applied. You can start the technique after the silicone has completely dried.

To avoid problems with the tightness of the refrigerator, make sure that the equipment is properly transported after purchase. Also, do not rush to break off the ice in the chamber yourself, it is better to wait for self-defrosting.
