The return of diapers: the return of menstruation after childbirth
The return of diapers marks the end of the diaper suites. It corresponds to the first menstruation after childbirth. When does this diaper return take place? How are these first rules? Answers.
Definition of layer return
The return of diaper corresponds to the first period after childbirth. This is the end of the period of nappy suites.
When does the return of diapers occur?
The return to diaper takes place 6 to 8 weeks after childbirth if you are not breastfeeding. It can occur up to 3 months after childbirth without it being abnormal. In case of breastfeeding, the return of diapers takes place a little later, before or after stopping breastfeeding, but it is exceptional that it occurs after 5 months.
Your first period after childbirth
The first period after giving birth is often longer and heavier than usual. But they may be less painful in some women whose periods were painful before a first pregnancy.
The first two cycles are often disrupted. Returning to a regular cycle takes a little time.
Return of diapers and contraception
Be careful, no return to diapers does not mean no ovulation. If you are not breastfeeding, you may ovulate between the 15th and 20th day after birth. When breastfeeding, it is rare but not impossible for ovulation to occur.
When to resume contraception after childbirth?
You must therefore resume contraception (unless you are not against a new pregnancy!) Before this famous return of diapers, 15 days after your childbirth. If you are breast-feeding, you should take an estrogen-free microprogestogen pill that is compatible with breast-feeding. When you stop breast-feeding, it is possible to choose another combined estrogen-progestogen pill.
Leaks, pain: what accompanies the return of diapers
A certain number of small ailments can accompany the continuation of diapers, until the return to normal (return of diapers):
- Urinary leaks. Post-confusional sphincter urinary incontinence can occur after childbirth. Often it regresses spontaneously.
- Pain in the episiotomy scar.
- Hemorrhoids. A hemorrhoidal outbreak is common in the aftermath of childbirth, especially after an episiotomy or perineal tear
