The fruits of the Chinese quince can be quite large, up to one and a half kilograms in weight. A small slice of fresh fruit weighing about 100 grams contains approximately 50 calories, none of which are fat. But quince contains: – vitamin C; – vitamin A; – vitamin E; – B vitamins; – calcium; – iron; – wine acid; – lemon acid; – Apple acid; – pectin; – phosphorus.

Doctors consider raw quince harmful for digestion, but the heat-treated fruit becomes healing for the gastrointestinal tract.

Useful properties of Chinese quince

How to cook Chinese quince

Chinese quince is ideal for making jellies and marinades, as well as spicy sauces. You can prepare a savory seasoning for meat dishes by taking: – Chinese quince; – sea salt; – sugar; – white wine vinegar; – coriander seeds.

Cut the quince into slices, remove the seeds and skin, place in a saucepan and pour in enough water to cover the fruit. Boil for 10 minutes, then strain and measure the amount of liquid. For every 500 ml, take 450 g of sugar, 300 ml of vinegar and a teaspoon of coriander seeds. Return the liquid back to the saucepan, add the measured ingredients and cook the sauce for 25-30 minutes, until the slices are tender. Purée them, season with salt and place the sauce in clean, sterile jars, close the lids and store in the refrigerator.
