The plant-based burger is hitting every sales record imaginable

Burger Impossible Burger (“Impossible Burger”) from plant meat, produced by the American company Impossible Foods, only in September 2019 made its debut in supermarket chains Gelson’s and Wegmans in the United States. And the product immediately became a hit and is still the most popular product in stores today.

The company has previously unveiled the first version of its “impossible” burger. The basis of the meat component was the substance “heme” (the company explained that this is an abbreviation for hemoglobin). The substance mimicked the blood of real animals. When it was added to a mixture of flour and spices, it tasted and colored very much like meat, after roasting, of course. But this artificial meat substitute is not for the consumer, because since he liked it, he enjoyed a distinct taste of artificiality. In addition, it was difficult to cook it in order to somehow imitate a meat dish. In any case, all tasters instantly recognized the fake.

And now the company presented the second version of its burger, in which artificial meat practically does not differ in all respects from natural animal meat.

In this version, wheat gluten was replaced by soy protein, which caused changes in the structure of the so-called meat. Once cooked, it becomes fibrous and tougher, and now really needs to be chewed like real meat. Minced meat stopped falling apart, and it became much easier to cook it, whether it be dumplings, meatballs or just a separate stewing, frying.

But the most important thing in this version is that the tasters for the most part did not recognize the fake, unless they were specifically told this. People claimed that it was real meat that was cooked according to the original recipe.

Burger cost at Gelson’s and Wegmans supermarketsis $ 8,99. During the entire time the Impossible Burger was on supermarket shelves, it outperformed all types of beef in both sales and revenue.

The vegetable burger was so in demand that Gelson’s even had to impose a limit of no more than 10 burgers per person.
