Once again, France is battling an increased number of tiger mosquitoes. Their presence has already been recorded in 42 departments. Experts say that such a large number of small bloodsuckers appeared as a result of high temperatures.
The largest concentration of tiger mosquitoes is present in the region of Southeast Asia. The transport of the fruit allowed them to spread to European countries such as Italy, Switzerland, Bulgaria and France.
Tiger mosquito bites can be very dangerous as they carry many dangerous tropical diseases such as chikungunya, dengue fever, West Nile fever, yellow fever, and Japanese encephalitis.
Recently, high temperatures have been recorded in France that may have contributed to the development of these little bloodsuckers. The French health ministry warns that they are already present in 42 departments. This is twice as much as in the last two years.
