The Ministry of Health has published a new list of reimbursed drugs. There were over two thousand items on the list. New products and indications have appeared in the list. Official sales prices were reduced for 153 products.

Changes in the list of reimbursed drugs in July 2022
The announcement of the Minister of Health of June 21, 2022 concerns the list of reimbursed drugs, foodstuffs for particular nutritional uses (ŚSSPŻ) and medical devices, which will apply from July 1, 2022. There are 2062 items on the list. Due to the positive decisions on the total reimbursement, 54 products or new indications were added to the list.
The prices of some medicinal products will change. We will pay less for 153 drugs, medical devices or ŚSSPŻ, for 243 items the patient’s surcharge will drop (unfortunately in more of them the surcharge will be higher – this applies to 449 items). Official selling prices were increased for 33 products.
“Due to the receipt of applications for the shortening of the validity period of reimbursement decisions or the expiry of the validity period of reimbursement decisions or the refusal to reimburse the reimbursement for the next period, the announcement will not include 126 products or indications from the previous announcement” – informed the Ministry of Health.

Will there be cheaper drugs for seniors?
As far as medicines for the elderly are concerned, no new active substance has been included in the latest list of reimbursed products. No item has also disappeared, which means that funding for drugs that have so far been reimbursed has been maintained.
Some medications for the elderly are free. This applies to seniors who are 75 years of age and older and are insured. Currently, 1 items are included in the list of reimbursed drugs, foodstuffs for particular nutritional uses and medical devices, effective from May 2022, 2081. They include 177 active substances in 83 limit groups. A detailed list of free medicines can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Health dedicated to the program.
According to the data of the ministry in 2021, 2,1 million seniors took advantage of free medicines, which translates into 72,4 million packages of medicinal products issued.
