The new million dollar whiskey bet

It is a whiskey of record, just a year ago they paid for a bottle of The Macallan at a price of U.S. dollar 993.000 (806.000 euros). It happened at an auction at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, and it was a special edition I was collaborating on Lalique.

It is not the first time that the alliance between both brands reaches record figures in a bid, the intense battle between the Chinese tycoon and the Taiwanese who competed for the six-liter special edition it still plays during those kinds of events. The Chinese took it, it cost him 628.205 dollars (509.000 euros).

In 2010 it had been a Taiwanese who had kept the desired bottle, had paid 460.000 dollars (373.000 euros). It was made of Lalique crystal, this millionaire alliance launches another luxury product for Father’s Day: this time they will combine perfume and whiskey creating a multisensory pack of Limited Edition.

The collaboration results from an alliance between Bob Dalgarno, “Whiskey maker” by The Macallan, and the prestigious nose Red Dove, creator of recognized luxury essences. The result of their alliance is a select “kitt” from Limited Edition designed by Bompas & Parr, a select London studio specialized in gastronomy.

It is called “Edition Nº3”, and it is a worthy collector’s item given its exclusivity. This new sample of the annual series“Editing” it is an ode to the aroma that seeks to expose to true whiskey lovers the complexity of the nuances of this “single malt”.

The brand presents the drink with synaesthetic references, it refers to it as “an experience”, a «journey of flavors». The drinks of this concoction have fruity and sweet notes, with the aroma of vanilla, freshly cut oak, delicate flowers and fruit cake. The brand defends it as “a seductive whiskey that defies all expectations and reflects the artistic genius of its creators.”
