NHF: medical aid should be provided to refugees
“In connection with the armed conflict in Ukraine, refugees who report a health problem to a family doctor, specialist clinic or hospital should be provided with adequate medical assistance,” reads a press release released to PAP on Saturday.
It was explained that this applies to people who have a certificate issued by the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland or an imprint of the stamp of the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland in the travel document, confirming their legal stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland, after crossing the border from February 24, 2022 in connection with the armed conflict on the territory of Ukraine .

The National Health Fund informed that the government is preparing special legal solutions that will enable the settlement of medical benefits provided to Ukrainian citizens coming to the Republic of Poland in connection with Our Country’s military aggression in Ukraine.
The provisions will apply to medical facilities that have signed contracts with the National Health Fund. “The changes in the law will apply retroactively from February 24, 2022” – we read in the announcement of the National Health Fund.
The National Health Fund will pay for help for the Ukrainians
It is noted that «the rules for providing medical services to Ukrainian citizens and their settlement will be the same as in the case of Polish patients«. “Citizens of Ukraine will have an additional title entitling to health services in Poland” – added.
The benefits will be paid by the National Health Fund from the state budget. The basis for settlements will be the rates specified in the contracts with the National Health Fund.

Medical facilities should record separately each case of providing assistance to a citizen of Ukraine on the basis of data from a passport and / or other travel document or from a certificate issued by the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland.
Reporting and settlement of health services provided to Ukrainian citizens under contracts with the NFZ with the NFZ will be possible immediately after the adoption of a special act and determination of detailed settlement solutions.
