The valuation of the nine groups of pediatric benefits will be increased, this applies to about a thousand medical procedures and procedures. In the coming days, we will present a draft ordinance in this matter – announced the President of the National Health Fund, Agnieszka Pachciarz on Thursday.

In November last year, the National Health Fund began work on the verification of the valuation of pediatric services. Their first stage has just ended. 24 groups were analyzed. The increase in the valuation concerns approx. PLN 200 thousand. annually performed in hospitals. The estimated increase is about PLN 140 million per year.

As Pachciarz informed during the Thursday meeting with journalists, in the first stage, the valuation of services constituting the core of pediatrics, which was indicated by the medical community, was verified. The increased valuation concerns, among others: minor procedures of the mouth, throat and larynx, gastroenteritis, diseases of the ears, throat and nose.

The president of the National Health Fund announced that work on the valuation will continue.

The vice-president of the National Health Fund, Wiesława Kłos, emphasized that the verification showed that some benefits were overestimated, but for now there will be no changes in their valuation. As she said, the valuation methodology was based on data provided by a group of selected hospitals, concerning e.g. depreciation of medical equipment, patient costs, analytical tests, drugs and staff remuneration.

These data were collected from hospitals: poviat, commune, municipal, non-public, voivodeship, clinical and medical institutes. Kłos assured that they are representative.

The National Health Fund also intends to change the value of the cataract treatment valuation. The vice-president of the Fund, Marcin Pakulski, announced that the cost of removing uncomplicated cataracts treated with a hospital stay of several days will be the same as in the case of one-day hospitalization. As Pakulski said, in the vast majority of uncomplicated cataract removal procedures, there is no need for the patient to stay in the hospital for more than one day. (PAP)
