Modern architecture makes one wonder and only guess how the engineers managed to realize such an idea. And what about the swimming pools? Think it’s still just rectangles filled with chlorinated water? Here and no. Design research and construction technologies have reached great heights, so placing a pool, for example, on the roof of a building is not a big problem today. The situation is the same with the configuration – swimming bowls have a wide variety of shapes, volumes and depths. Have you prepared swimming trunks and slates? Then we begin a journey through the ten most unusual pools of the globe.
10 The Library, Thailand
Our rating is opened by The Library pool, located in the five-star hotel of the same name in Thailand. The peculiarity of this tank is that it is finished with yellow, orange and red tiles. Due to this design decision, the water in the pool appears red. The Library instantly attracts attention, making you wonder about the shade of the water, which at first glance can even scare. In fact, there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of – the liquid in the pool is transparent and clean, and if you blush, then it’s definitely not from it. But you can really enjoy such an unusual spectacle for a long time.
9. Ocean Dome, Miyazaki, Japan
Well, how can you do without Japan when it comes to something unusual? However, Ocean Dome can hardly be called just a pool. It’s more like a water park. Exactly, because in the Guinness Book of Records Ocean Dome is listed as the world’s largest indoor water park. It’s no joke, up to 10000 vacationers can frolic here at the same time! The complex provides all kinds of water rides, surfing areas, stages for performances by artists and even a whole artificial volcano, the “eruption” of which occurs every hour. At night, the water surface of the main pool is used as a projector for light shows.
8. SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
Damn it, it’s an open-air swimming pool at a height of 200 meters! That’s exactly what it is. The stunning design is located on the roof of the luxurious Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore. And the point here is not only what we have already mentioned. The masters of engineering did their best, and the so-called waterline of the pool merges with the horizon. Thanks to this, vacationers get the impression that the water will immediately pour into the city along with all the floating people. Amazing and wildly mesmerizing! Of course, everyone in the pool is completely safe, and even if someone “falls out”, the landing will be extremely soft.
7. Cambrian Adelboden, Switzerland
There is also no roof at the Cambrian Adelboden pool, but it is completely unnecessary there. The fact is that this reservoir, located at the hotel of the same name, is actually located among the Swiss mountains. Imagine, you don’t have to be a “walrus” at all, you don’t need to climb into the lake to admire the picturesque landscapes and breathe in the purest mountain air. In the Cambrian Adelboden pool, you can enjoy all the delights of Swiss nature while being in warm, heated water. If you wish, you can swim to the very edge and, leaving the water surface behind you, admire the gorgeous views of the mountains. Just wonderful!
6. Golden Nugget, Las Vegas, USA
Let’s leave peace alone with nature and go to Las Vegas. Here, in the Golden Nugget hotel, there is a pool for thrill-seekers. The specificity of this water complex is that it is literally teeming with sharks and other marine predators. Stop, stop, don’t worry, no one is eating you, they are behind the glass! However, especially impressionable and faint-hearted people are unlikely to appreciate the idea, while adrenaline seekers will gladly approach the sharks as close as possible. A transparent 10-meter pipe is in high demand among vacationers, through which you can quickly descend into the pool, accompanied by the views of predatory fish.
5. Nemo 33, Brussels, Belgium
Guess what’s the matter here? Indeed, the word Nemo in the name is not accidental – this pool is the deepest in the world of those under the roof. The concept of “waist-high” here equates to 5-7 meters, “on the neck” will be already 10 meters, but “with a head” you can dive to a depth of 35 meters. All this happens in different parts of the pool. It is curious that the creator of the reservoir is a professional diver John Birnaerts. Thanks to his developments, the Nemo 33 pool can be called a paradise for scuba diving. In addition to the mesmerizing caves at a depth of 10 meters, special installations with air are provided here so that scuba divers do not once again overcome a long distance to the surface of the water.
4. Zodiac at Umaid Bhawan Palace, India
This pool can rightly be included in the ranking of the most luxurious in the world. However, in our hit parade, Zodiac is also not unreasonably located. If previous swimming structures were located between heaven and earth, in this case the water bowl is arranged deep under the base of the luxurious Indian hotel Umaid Bhawan. The pool is finished with golden tiles, and at the bottom there are images of all 12 signs of the Zodiac (hence the name itself). To bathe in luxury in the truest sense of the word, everyone who has a hotel room reserved for them has the right.
3. Chongwe River House, Zambia
The pool itself is nothing special. What’s more, a small tank with a bizarre tadpole shape would look simply idiotic anywhere else. Things take a completely different turn when we learn that the Chongwe River House, together with the hotel of the same name, is actually located in the epicenter of Zambian wildlife, that is, near the river, where various animals come to drink. The hotel itself is made in the form of a bungalow. Having chosen such a place of rest, you should be prepared for the fact that a real elephant or giraffe will come to admire your swimming in the pool. Civilization in harmony with nature. Wildly beautiful!
2. Gold Energy Pool, Lhasa
If for the fifth birthday in a row they want to bathe in gold, but the precious metal in your cache is only 50 grams, you should know that you are simply sent to Tibet. Or rather, in one of the spiritual centers, which is located in Lhasa. Here the end point of the route will be the Gold Energy Pool. Guess what’s what? This pool is golden, and in the truest sense of the word. The bottom of the bowl is really lined with the most famous precious metal material, due to which it seems that there is golden water in the pool. It looks great and truly luxurious. However, it’s worth it.
1. Hanging Gardens Ubud, Indonesia
Well, in the first place today is fabulous Bali. Namely, the hotel Hanging Gardens Ubud, which built one of the most unusual and amazing pools in the world. Two bathing bowls are located right in the middle of a beautiful rainforest. A picturesque panorama opens from the upper section of the pool, while being in the lower bowl, you can touch the branches of trees with your own hands, as well as see some exotic bird. The design of the tank is also on top – the water is absolutely flush with the walls, which, when you see the tropics, fascinates even more.
