The most expensive sandwich costs 180 euros and has gold
The well-known New York restaurant Serendipity 3 celebrated National Sandwich Day by creating the most expensive specimen in the world: the Quintessential Grilled Cheese. Cost 214 dollars (181 euros) and the Guinness Book of Records has already recorded the feat.

It is the third time that a dish from the menu of this place has made a place among the most expensive: the most expensive haburger in the world, “Le Burguer Extravagant”, from 234 euros, It is also the work of its chef, as well as the «Frrozen Haute Chocolate», the ice cream of more than 20.000 euros.
The Serendipity 3 is one of the most emblematic gastronomic corners of the city that never sleeps, they have surrendered to its charms celebrities such as Bill Clinton, Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds o Beyonce.
What is your secret?
The recipe is classic but effective, it is a cheese sandwich with a sophisticated elaboration. Its ingredients include the oil of Don Perignon, the truffle and the king of metals: gold, which is applied on the bread to achieve a perfect crunchy finish.
The tasting of this gastronomic work should not respond to a simple impulse, the menu has to be ordered with 48 hours in advance. The local chef, Joe Calderone, confesses to having sold dozens of “Quintaessentials” despite their high price.
The bread of the exclusive work comes from France. It cooks splashed with champagne Don Perignon and spread in truffle butter.
The sandwich is filled with caciocavallo podolico, an Italian cheese whose flavor, according to the New York chef, is between Manchego and Parmesan. It is a very exclusive dairy, only 25.000 cows worldwide they produce the raw material, these animals breastfeed for only two months a year.
When the cheese starts to bubble they should be embedded in the bread 23 karat gold leaf so that the roast gets the perfect texturea.
The dish is served, for the pleasure of the most gourmets, together with a tomato sauce with chunks of lobster that achieves the perfect balance of flavor. “I think it’s worth what it costs, it has the best ingredients in the world”, sentences the chef.
