The Mil del Poaig has a “Feminine scent” and gives off various notes: fruity, freshly cut grass, citrus, orange blossom and almonds. Costs 130 euros for half a liter and its shades are so exquisite that in the luxurious Harrods department store a tasting was organized to delight the palate of your most gourmet customers.

This year it’s been a decade the Spanish product to which the prestigious New York magazine The Times positioned between one of the 100 best in the world.

He was born with a commendable mission: «to value the fruit of ancient olive trees that were sold to different European countries to decorate roundabouts, “he says. Joaquin Solano.

He, along with his partner Manuel Arnao, illuminated an ambitious project that brought the name of the Maestrazgo to the most exquisite corners of the globe: «we sell without intermediaries to countries like Japan, the United States, Brazil or China», 90% of the product – he accounts – is exported.

A rare commodity

«We launched into the world with a very small production, between two and three thousand bottles a year, “he explains. There is no more production, since the trees from which the Valencian liquid gold springs are very long-lived and bear very little fruit. In addition -count- are very difficult to work given its enormous size and location “They are scattered within a 45 km radius”.

These difficulties are what caused -and still provoke- the impulse of their former owners to sell them, since “it is much more profitable for them to receive a huge sum of money, get rid of the tree and plant in its place 9 normal olive trees that could be harvested easily”.

The philosophy and commitment to nature of the owners resulted in a gourmet product whose international success allows them to invest in a human team that is dedicated daily to pamper your raw materialevery day we analyze, care for and pamper the olive trees to get the most out of its fruit and create a truly premium product ”, says Solano.

The oil flows from the farga olive, which has “A very marked personality”, which Solano describes as “feminine” because “it dissolves immediately, it is not aggressive, in contrast to Verd, our other variety, it is a little more powerful, more masculine”.

The perfect packaging

To create an authentic luxury product, the partners teamed up with the renowned designers of Cul de Sac. “We got in touch with the team and after a long and laborious process we came to the conclusion that the best container had to be made of white porcelain, be totally opaque and have a design that would enhance the product.”

The result is refined, ecological and luxurious; worthy of the height of oil with which Manuel Arnao and Javier Solano dreamed of describing the spirit of the Maestrazgo.
