1. Yerebatan Palace
One of the most beautiful and mysterious places in Turkey is located in Istanbul – Yerebatan Palace. The monument of engineering thought of ancient builders has come down to us since the time of the Byzantine Empire. This is a huge underground reservoir built during the reign of Emperor Justinian. Water from the underground reservoir was used to supply the imperial palace, as well as during the siege of the city by the enemy or drought. The huge palace is decorated with 336 nine-meter columns. They were brought from all over the empire, so they are made in different styles. In the 16th century, the underground reservoir palace was abandoned. After restoration in 1987, a museum was opened in the ancient building.
