10 Alien: Covenant

Ridley Scott promised to return to the story of Aliens, but in the end, in 2012, he filmed the prequel Prometheus, an ambiguous picture that leaves many questions after viewing.

As for the plot of the picture – the colonial ship “Covenant” with a small crew on board ends up on a planet, the study of which leads to disaster. An expedition sent out to investigate finds a giant Creator ship and Alien eggs with facehuggers inside.
9. Devil in the white city
“Devil in the White City” is one of the most anticipated horror movies of 2017. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Eric Larson. The action in the film takes place in 1893, during the World’s Fair in Chicago. Henry Howard Holmes built a hotel in time for the exhibition, which the locals dubbed the “Castle”. During construction, he constantly changed contractors, so he alone knew the exact location of the hotel’s rooms. The “Castle” became a real labyrinth of death from several dozen rooms and corridors that led to nowhere. The victims of the criminal were women who worked at the hotel and tourists who came to the exhibition. Henry Howard Holmes went down in history as the first American serial killer. Leonardo DiCaprio will play the maniac in the film.
It was planned that the picture will be released in 2015, but the premiere of the tape was postponed. It is likely that it will be released this year.
8. Dark tower
“Dark tower” – the most controversial and anticipated film of 2017. It cannot be called a classic horror – it is a mixture of thriller, mysticism and horror. The film is based on Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series of novels, which includes 8 books. The writer has been working on the series for 30 years.
In the center of the plot is the story of Roland Deschain, the last representative of an ancient family of shooters who protect the Middle World from evil. He must reach the center of the worlds – the Dark Tower, in order to destroy the Scarlet King and save the Universe from destruction. The role of Roland went to the black actor Idris Elba. This caused bewilderment among the fans of the cycle, since the writer himself repeatedly stated that Roland was based on Clint Eastwood.
The film is slated for a worldwide release on July 27th.

Included in the list of the most anticipated horror films is another adaptation of the works of Stephen King – horror “It”.
In the small town of Derry, an evil awakens every 30 years, taking on different forms and killing children. Seven teenagers find the strength to resist the supernatural enemy, this time taking the form of the sinister clown Pennywise.
The film will premiere on September 8th.

Horror “Alive” entered the list of the most anticipated films due to the promising cast. The film stars Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal. The plot of the picture cannot be called intriguing: a faulty module with samples of Martian soil fell into the hands of the crew of the international space station. During the initial analysis, the rover found some form of life in the rock. It was decided to explore the soil on the ISS so as not to endanger the Earth. The assumption was confirmed – the scientists of the station detect a living organism and start the process of its awakening. Calvin (as the unknown creature was named) turns out to be an incredibly smart and dangerous opponent.
The film was released worldwide in March.
5. Jeepers Creepers 3
Jeepers Creepers 3 – one of the expected horror films of 2017 and the third part of the popular franchise about a character named Jeepers Creepers, who takes the organs of his victims to maintain his own life.
The main character of the picture, Trish Jenner, is haunted every night by the same nightmare – she and her son die in the same way as her brother. To prevent these dreams from coming true, she must find someone to help Trish defeat the Jeepers Creepers.
The premiere of the film in Russia is expected to take place on October 12.

The success of “Astral” led to the appearance of the fourth part of the franchise, which tells about the struggle of the psychic Alice Rayner with evil supernatural forces. “Astral: Chapter 4” can be safely included in the list of expected horror films of 2017. The film will premiere in Russia on June 8, 2017.
