The Mitchell Diet, designed for weekly compliance, refers to those types of nutrition that allow you to get rid of a significant amount of excess weight in a short time. Among other diets for weight loss, she stands out by the need to introduce into her diet a special fat-burning soup according to Dr. Mitchell’s diet recipe. The dish contains a minimum amount of calories, it can be consumed in combination with other permitted products.
In order for the diet to give the maximum result in the end, the author of the methodology suggests following some tips and recommendations that, in combination with dietary restrictions, allow you to lose weight quickly and effectively. As a result, in 7 days you can get rid of 3-7 kilograms.
Features of following the diet of Dr. Mitchell
The main component of the diet in this nutritional scheme is the magical Bonn soup. It must be eaten every time a feeling of hunger arises – this way you can minimize the likelihood of breakdowns, deterioration of well-being and psychological discomfort. It is strictly forbidden to drown out hunger with forbidden foods, to get involved in banquets and feasts, to eat at night. The last meal should be no later than 3 hours before bedtime.
Usually, the diet is designed for 7 days, but if the planned result is not achieved and with the permission of a dietitian, it can be extended up to 12 days. It is not recommended to further limit yourself in good nutrition, so as not to provoke vitamin deficiency or a lack of other useful substances.
It is better to postpone sports and training until the end of the diet, since at this time the body does not receive enough calories and energy. But walking, active games and light exercises will not be superfluous – in any case, in the process of losing weight, physical activity is indispensable. In addition, massages, spa treatments, and a sauna will be a good addition to the diet, which significantly improve the appearance of the skin and its turgor, and also help fight stretch marks.
An important condition for normal and healthy weight loss is a good night’s rest. Getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep a day will help lower blood levels of the stress hormone, improve well-being and add vigor.
All meals scheduled for the day are divided into 4-5 meals – in this case, the food is fully digested and is not deposited at the waist. At the same time, portions should be small in size so as not to stretch the walls of the stomach, but rather allow them to decrease and thereby reduce its volume. In the future, this will help to eat small portions of food and not feel hungry.
We must not forget about the water balance – be sure to consume 1,5-2 liters of fluid per day.
There are also restrictions on how to cook food: frying, grilling and smoking are prohibited, foods can be boiled, stewed, baked or steamed.
Gelatin, starch, salt and sugar are completely excluded from the diet, but at the same time, to improve the taste of dishes, it is allowed to use tomato paste, vinegar, spices, unsalted spices, soy sauce, lemon juice, and vegetable oil.
Drinking alcohol and the Mitchell diet do not go together at all. If a holiday or a feast is planned, and you can’t do without a glass or two, the diet should be stopped a day before the event.
If more than 7 kilograms have gone in the first week, it is necessary to stop losing weight and gradually move to the usual level of daily calorie intake. Returning to the Mitchell diet in this case is no longer worth it.
The most important nuance of complying with this weight loss system is that in case of any violation and breakdown, you need to start all over again. Such punishment works as a serious motivation for not breaking the regime.
Allowed products and prohibitions
The diet consists of products common to any healthy food system. At the time of weight loss is completely prohibited:
- bakery products, rich pastries;
- pasta;
- cereals;
- fatty, fried, smoked dishes;
- canned food, pickles, marinades, sauces;
- sweets, sweets, preserves and jams, sugar;
- fast food and semi-finished products.
However, all these products are not welcomed by nutritionists even in the usual daily diet, so the proposed diet will also become a transitional step towards proper nutrition in the future.
At the same time, the list of allowed products is wide and includes:
- vegetables and greens;
- fruits and berries;
- mushrooms, soybeans and legumes;
- seeds and nuts;
- vegetable oil;
- lean fish and seafood;
- lean meat, poultry;
- low fat dairy products.
From drinks, you can afford natural black coffee without sugar, tea, rosehip broth, smoothies, fresh juices, natural fruit drinks and jelly, mineral water, compotes.
The most important component of the diet is vegetable soup for burning fat.
For its preparation will need:
- 200 g celery;
- 500 g carrots;
- 6 bulbs;
- 500 g of green beans;
- 2 green bell peppers;
- 800 g of tomatoes;
- medium sized cabbage;
- Xnumx of beef;
- bunch of parsley;
- 1,2 liters of tomato juice.
Only broth is cooked from beef, and meat is consumed separately on strictly defined days. All ingredients are washed. Celery and carrots are peeled and cut into strips, peppers and onions are cut into cubes. The cabbage is finely chopped.
Chopped vegetables are placed in the broth and brought to a boil, then boiled for 6-8 minutes over medium heat. Tomatoes are blanched, rubbed on a fine grater, the greens are finely chopped, and together with the beans and juice are added to the soup pot. Half an hour more and the soup is ready. For those who like pureed soups, you can grind the dish in a blender. The quantity and proportions of the ingredients can be changed in accordance with your taste preferences, but it is very important to use each of them. Several times during the diet, you can replace the beef broth with chicken.
The cooked dish is useful not only in terms of losing weight, it contains a large amount of fiber, amino acids and vitamins. As for calories, one bowl of soup contains only about 35 kcal. The entire daily diet does not exceed 650 kcal.
Soup occupies a central role with this diet, but besides it, you need to eat other foods in a strictly defined sequence, scheduled by day.
On the first day, in addition to soup, you can eat fruits and berries (except bananas, figs, melons, grapes, dried fruits). From the liquid, green or herbal tea, water, cranberry juice are allowed.
The second day passes with any vegetables, except starchy ones, and soup. For dinner, you can eat two baked potatoes with skins, to which a spoonful of olive oil is added.
The third day passes on soup, as well as fruits, berries and vegetables, except for potatoes.
The fourth day of the diet is more varied in food – it is allowed to eat 3 bananas, eat unsweetened fruits and non-starchy vegetables, and a choice of 500 g of low-fat cottage cheese, 1 liter of low-fat milk or kefir. And, of course, soup.
On the fifth day of losing weight, the menu focuses on protein – you can eat 600 g of rabbit, chicken or veal per day, or replace them with a similar portion of fish or seafood. You also need to eat tomatoes in any form, and do not forget about the soup.
The sixth day is a day of lean beef, vegetables and soup.
During the seventh day of the diet, vegetables, fruit and berry juices and smoothies, and a small portion of brown rice are added to the soup.
Dr. Mitchell’s Diet Exit Rules
Just losing weight during a diet is not enough, an important task for losing weight is to keep the results and not gain everything again. In order to avoid this problem, the author of the diet advises to adhere to some exit principles. After the end of the diet, you need to limit the use of harmful foods, especially in the first two weeks. We must not forget about 2 liters of fluid per day, as well as about sports and fractional meals 5 times a day. It is important to pay attention to the problem areas of the figure, regularly attend massage, bath or sauna. As for eating at night, if possible, it is better not to eat 2-3 hours before bedtime.
In the first week, the calorie content of the daily diet should be increased by about 150-200 kcal and kept at this level for all seven days.
It is useful to spend a fasting day on soup about once every two to three weeks, and the diet can be repeated once every half a year.

Pros and cons of the Mitchell scheme for weight loss
The diet has a lot of supporters among losers and nutritionists, and all thanks to its impressive list of benefits. The diet is easy to follow, as there is no need to calculate calories and carbohydrates, or weigh portions, it is already calculated and selected by the author of the diet.
Products allowed for consumption are available on the shelves at relatively affordable prices at any time of the year. In addition, all dishes in the diet, including soup, are prepared simply and quickly. Small portion sizes contribute to a decrease in the volume of the stomach, and this directly affects weight loss.
The diet gives real results – about 4-7 kilograms per week, and besides, it does not apply to the hungry, since when hunger strikes, it can be drowned out with soup. The nutrition system allows you to speed up the metabolism and improve the functioning of the intestines, helps to remove fluid and reduce swelling, because the “Bonn” soup has a pronounced diuretic effect. As a result of dieting, the body is cleansed of toxins and toxins.
Do not think that the presented weight loss system is a magic pill for all ills. It has some drawbacks that need to be carefully considered before embarking on this method of weight loss.
Changes in the diet, as well as low-calorie foods consumed, can lead to a feeling of weakness, dizziness, and a breakdown.
Due to the large number of vegetables eaten, some digestive disorders may appear – constipation, bloating, flatulence, colic, cramps in the intestines, increased acidity in the stomach. In addition, the diet is not sufficiently balanced, it does not contain enough animal proteins and fats. Sharp weight loss with similar food restrictions can cause problems with the condition of the skin, hair and nails.
And for those who work in the office, following a soup diet will not be very convenient, because you have to carry a thermos or bowls of soup with you.
