Another wave of coronavirus has started in Poland. This is evidenced by the latest figures for new infections, as well as the R indicator of where we are in the epidemic. The Ministry of Health provided us with the latest data.

  1. The virus reproduction rate (R index) tells about the infectivity of the pathogen at a given moment. On this basis, we learn how many people can be infected by one sick person
  2. When the R index does not exceed 1, we are dealing with the extinction of the epidemic. However, if it is higher than 1, then it is a wave lifting arm
  3. According to the data of the Ministry of Health, this indicator for Poland is 1,36, although on Twitter you can find information (calculated on the basis of the Ministry’s data) that it is already over 1,5
  4. More information can be found on the Onet homepage

R indicator for Poland

The latest R (virus reproduction rate) index available and reported to the media by the Ministry of Health is as of June 28. It is 1,36 for Poland. This is an average number from all voivodships.

The worst situation is in the province. Warmia-Masuria Province. There, this coefficient is 1,57. Equal or higher 1,5 was also recorded in the province. Zachodniopomorskie and Świętokrzyskie.

R indicator

says how many more people can be infected by one person suffering from coronavirus. A value greater than 1 indicates that the epidemic is on an upward wave, a value less than 1 indicates that it is getting weaker.

At the other extreme, there is Podkarpacie with a reproduction ratio of 1,21. It looks relatively good in the province. Lubuskie (1,29) and Opole (1,30).

The Ministry of Health provides information on the reproductive rate on a weekly basis. Much more recent data can be found on Twitter. They are regularly provided by several people who analyze all numbers provided by the Ministry of Health on an ongoing basis.

One of them is Adam Gapiński, who from the beginning of the pandemic has presented on this website many epidemic analyzes based on official data of the Ministry of Health. The table he presents shows that the R index for Poland on July 5 reached the value of 1,55.

On 2 and 3 July it was even 1,59.

Coronavirus in Poland. Already over a thousand infections

On July 5, for the first time since April, the daily statistics of infections exceeded a thousand cases (exactly 1075). What the experts and the Ministry of Health had predicted happened.

– The current forecasts say that in July the number of infections may increase, up to a thousand new cases a day – said Medonet at the end of June, Health Minister Adam Niedzielski (read the entire conversation with the Minister of Health here).

According to data from the Ministry of Health on July 6, last day, 964 coronavirus infections were recorded in Poland. Three people have died due to COVID-19. Six people recovered.

There are currently 449 people infected with the coronavirus in hospitals.

Reproduction rate – what was it like before?

At the end of January, with the fifth wave of the coronavirus and record numbers of daily infections (over 57), the R index was also around 1,5. The data provided to us by the Ministry of Health showed that it was exactly 1,45, although it can be assumed that it was a bit more.

Have you been infected with COVID-19? Be sure to check your health. The Healing Blood Test Pack, available on Medonet Market, can help you with this. You can also make them at home.

It was equally high during the second wave of the coronavirus in Poland, which took place in the fall of 2020 in October the R index reached the value of 1,55.

Over the past few months, after the fifth wave of the pandemic in Poland has expired, the indicator has remained well below level 1 for a long time. In April, it was even less than 0,5.
