The mind wills, the body cannot. Erectile dysfunction can be a sign of prostate disease

The prostate is a male organ that surrounds the urethra. Its task is to secrete a fluid that, together with the sperm, forms semen. With age, the prostate gland enlarges, and although this is a completely natural part of life, it can make it a bit more difficult to function, for example by limiting the flow of urine. Sometimes inflammation occurs that makes it difficult to achieve or maintain an erection.

A slight enlargement of the prostate affects most men – many in their 90s and up to 80% over XNUMX years of age. Worse, when it turns into prostatitis. Unfortunately, many men still do not report to the urologist in advance, and when they decide – it is sometimes too late. Therefore, at the first signs of prostate problems, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Prostatitis – first symptoms and treatment

Chronic prostatitis is a very common complaint. Inflammation causes several characteristic symptoms that should not be ignored:

  • More frequent than usual and sometimes painful urination
  • Sometimes it is accompanied by fever, pain in the groin, lower back, perineum, testicles,
  • Often, patients complain of a decrease in interest in sex life, as well as problems with achieving and maintaining an erection.

With acute prostatitis (which happens less often), the symptoms are much more severe. Each of these conditions, both simple and acute, is very often identified by men as urinary tract infections.

Prostate treatment is carried out under the supervision of a doctor. Don’t wait for the disease to develop, just act. At the first examination, the specialist will order blood tests and check if the gland is enlarged. Although the examination is certainly not the most comfortable, there is nothing to be afraid of – specialists reserve that stress during the examination is completely unnecessary.

Do not self-medicate with preparations found on the Internet or pharmacy, because at best they will not bring results, and at worst they can even be harmful. Unfortunately, such practices also make us postpone the visit to the urologist and the problem only increases.

Prostate and sexual performance

The normal function of the prostate is to produce a fluid that, together with sperm, is the main component of semen. Prostate hypertrophy often causes erectile dysfunction, as severe urinary symptoms cause a decrease in libido, and also lead to ejaculation or erection disorders. Men suffering from an enlarged prostate or inflammation of the prostate can help themselves through massage. However, the most important thing is prevention and treatment – you should eliminate the disease with the help of a doctor and at the same time use drugs prescribed by a specialist to support sexual performance.
