Horse chestnut is not only a beautiful tree, but also useful, for which connoisseurs of traditional medicine love it. Indeed, doctors of all times and peoples used all parts of this wonderful plant: bark, leaves, seeds and fruits.
His majesty – horse chestnut
The common chestnut grows on almost every continent. It is grown in North America, Europe, Russia, East Asian countries, in particular, India. And Greece is considered the birthplace of this tree. Basically, the chestnut was used as an ornamental plant with beautiful carved leaves and white-pink, collected in a large brush, bells. Later, they began to use its seeds, fruits and bark. The seeds were ground into flour and added to cattle feed, snuff was made, and from ground dried chestnut fruits and mixed with alum, bookbinders made a very strong glue for books. But our ancestors used chestnut not only for economic purposes.
The healing properties of this tree and its fruits have been known for a long time. It has been used as a medicine for more than one hundred years. The composition of the fruits and leaves of chestnut contains biologically active substances that help strengthen the walls of blood vessels, rapid blood coagulation. Chestnut is used as a prevention of blood clots and for resorption of blood clots, as well as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent. An excellent helper ordinary chestnut in the treatment of varicose veins, rheumatism, hemorrhoids, joint diseases, as well as bronchitis, whooping cough, bronchial asthma and many other diseases.
The tannins contained in the bark of the horse chestnut, as well as escin, esculoside and exulin are widely used in modern pharmacology. And today, a lot of ointments, tinctures, decoctions are made on the basis of chestnut.
In folk medicine, chestnut fruits – considered the most useful parts of the plant – are used to treat a wide variety of diseases. Healers and sorcerers, in order to charge the body with healing energy and protect themselves from negativity from the outside, recommended their patients to always carry (in their pockets) one or two fruits of a horse chestnut.
In case of mastopathy, stagnation of milk during breastfeeding, women were advised to “roll” one “nut” of chestnut on their chest with massaging movements.
For joint problems and headaches, healers advised their patients to wear a necklace or bracelet made of dried chestnut fruit. But when making them, it is imperative to observe the following proportions: 27 dried chestnuts must be strung on beads on a fishing line or strong thread, for a bracelet it is enough to use 7 fruits (no more). Ground dried chestnuts are brewed like tea and drunk for chronic stomach upset.
To increase potency, men over forty are advised to include a decoction of green chestnut skins in their diet. To prepare it, take: – 2 green chestnuts; – 1 glass of water.
Gently remove the green skin from the chestnuts, chop it and cover with one glass of boiling water. Put on low heat, bring to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes. Then cool it down. You need to drink the broth chilled twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, half a glass each. You can use this tool for an unlimited time.
With hemorrhoids, hypertension, muscle inflammation, varicose veins, salt deposition, it is useful to drink 5-10 drops of medicinal tincture from chestnut fruits. For its preparation you will need: – 50 g of chestnuts; – 0,5 liters of vodka.
Peel the chestnuts and chop the fruits, fill them with vodka, put in a dark place and leave to infuse. Shake the tincture container periodically. After seven days, the product will be ready and you can start treatment.
Ready tincture should be drunk three times a day, 5-10 drops, you can drink them or dilute them with water. The last dose of the drug must be taken in the evening half an hour before bedtime. The course of treatment is two weeks. After a while, you can continue taking the drug.
If your knuckles hurt, roll two chestnuts in your hands every day for 10-15 minutes. This simple method will allow you to put your joints in order in a very short time.
Another remedy recommended for high blood pressure, hemorrhoids, varicose veins and prostatitis is made on the basis of the peel of ripe chestnuts. Take for him: – ripe chestnuts – 25-30 pieces; – vodka – 1 liter.
Peel the chestnuts, chop the skins. Take 100 g of raw materials and fill it with vodka. Place the container with the tincture in a dark place and leave to infuse for 14 days. Then strain the product, pour it into a dark glass container and store it in the refrigerator. You need to consume the resulting drug, 25 drops diluted with 50 ml of water, twice a day on an empty stomach. For half an hour, you should refrain from eating.
The course of treatment with this tincture is 21 days, after which take a week break and repeat the three-week course of taking the drug again.
