Utilities tax: not only utilities will pay it
At the beginning of February, a bill was entered into the list of government legislative works, the consequence of which will be the introduction of a new premium for internet and conventional advertising. Contributions will be paid by the media, they will give back 7,5 or 10 percent. annual advertising revenue.
35 percent Contribution funds will go to the newly created Fund for Supporting Culture and National Heritage in the Media Area, 50% will go to the National Health Fund, and 15% will go to the National Health Fund. to the National Monument Protection Fund.
Media representatives protested against the new charge in a special letter addressed to the government. On February 10, a nationwide media strike took place, in which Onet also took part.
The new tax will also hit health
According to Polityka Zdrowotna, the new burden will also hit the health sector. The government will oblige the media to pay tax on advertising not only on sweets, medicines, dietary supplements, but also on medical devices.
Medical devices are, among others diapers, orthoses, rehabilitation equipment, syringes and masks.
A medical device is easier to register than a dietary supplement. – Dietary supplements are registered as medical devices for greater prestige and ease of registration – says Patryk Sucharda, vice-president of POLMED Polish Chamber of Medical Products, in an interview with the Health Policy website.
- There will be eight different COVID-19 vaccines in the EU. What do we know about them?
Therefore, the government added a provision on medical devices to the bill. – This will make the tax applicable to all medical devices. There are no exceptions, e.g. products ordered by a physician, i.e. diaper pants. Unfortunately, for years it has been a problem for us that there is no other legal definition of medical devices – adds Sucharda.
Higher tax will most likely mean that customers who buy masks or rehabilitation equipment will pay more for the advertised product.
