Origin of the name Yuna
The origin of the name is difficult to establish, because it could appear in several languages at once. The traditional interpretation of the appearance of the name Yuna from the name of the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter, is considered suitable specifically for the full name Juno or Junia.
Yun’s version is closer to the Latin language, where it sounds similar to the number one or from the name of young people and the Latin adjective meaning “young”.
In Japanese and Korean, the fashion for this name is recent. But as a name for rivers, the toponym Yuna is very ancient and widespread throughout the world (the Yuna River in Siberia, the Dominican Republic, and Alaska).
Meaning and characteristics of the name Yuna
If we take the form “Una”, then the name comes from the Latin “unus” – “one” and means “only”. In Celtic, ūna is “hunger” and uan is “lamb.” In the medieval Scottish poem by Edward Spenser, Yune is the queen of the fairies.
In Japanese, or rather the Okinawan dialect of Japanese, Yuna means “night” or “moon”.
And if we consider the name Yuna as a derivative of Juvenalia, then the meaning of the name is closer to the concept of “youth”, “youth”. The word young, yunak, yuno is common in Slavic languages with the meaning of defining a young age, something early, referring in the form of a cognonym to young people and girls.
And Yuna fully lives up to her rare name! Forever young, perky, funny, or, conversely, with a deep inner sense of humor that you don’t expect from her, but when she makes a joke, stand or fall. In adulthood, she is prone to malice, can be harmful and has a sharp tongue. But since the Yuns are not vindictive, this is simply an element of communication, nothing more. They are kind and sincere, very responsive and ready to help everyone.

Name days:
The name is not Christian, there are no saints with that name. At baptism they give the name Junia (Iunia) in honor of Saint Junia, a relative and helper of the Apostle Paul himself. Name days can then be celebrated on May 30th.
