Psychologists are increasingly advised to limit the viewing of news – there is too much negativity in them. And it’s too bad for our psyche. A resident of St. Petersburg sued the federal channel, because he is sure that the program has a bad effect on his condition.
Igor Mirzoev, a resident of St. Petersburg, sued the federal TV channel: the man is demanding compensation for moral damage and losses. We are talking about the amount of 500 rubles, which the man has already spent on medical services (consultations of a psychologist) and 000 compensation for non-pecuniary damage.
In February of this year, the man turned to a mental health specialist. He suffered from panic attacks and obsessive thoughts. The psychologist confirmed that the psychological and emotional state of the client deteriorated significantly due to watching the news on TV. According to the plaintiff, 78,2% of the channel’s content has a negative connotation.
Resorting to judicial language, Igor Mirzoev wrote in a statement that the federal channel “violates his personal non-property rights, causing moral suffering, as well as property rights, expressed in direct costs for the restoration of psychological well-being.” The lawsuit was submitted to the judge and it is not yet clear whether the man will be able to receive the required amount.
“Don’t read Soviet newspapers before dinner,” the protagonist of Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Heart of a Dog advised his young colleague. And this phrase has not without reason become winged. Most of the news, both on TV channels and on network resources, really has a negative connotation. And we believe in the unpleasant more readily than in the good – these are the features of the human psyche.
That is why, according to psychologists, it is important to keep track of what content and in what volumes we “feed” to our brain. It is in our power and in our area of responsibility. Simply put, don’t forget: the TV remote has an “off” button.
