The main forms of communication between children and adults: situational-personal and business

The forms of communication between children and adults change, depending on the period of the baby’s life. At first, the personality of an adult is tied to a specific situation, later it has an independent meaning.

Situational-personal and business ways of interaction

Methods of communication according to the situation arise in the initial periods. Mom takes care of the child and gradually the baby responds to her with joyful smiles and humming. He reads her emotions and is offended when she leaves him. This form is called “situational-personal”.

Forms of communication between children and adults affect the self-esteem of the baby

The next form is from 6 months to 2 years, which is commonly called “situational-business”. The child’s attention is still attached to the adult according to the situation, but the communication style is changing. The kid is interested not in the object itself – the parent, but in the objects that he provides. Communication opportunities are also expanding. The child learns to use gestures, to make movements aimed at contact.

Basic non-situational forms of interaction

These forms are associated with the appearance and development of speech, which allows the child to consider not objects and situations that are available, but their images. They are also divided according to the periods of the baby’s development.

The non-situational-cognitive form “enters the scene” from 3 to 5 years old. It is marked by a stream of questions to the adult. These questions concern the world of animate and inanimate nature and their laws. The child is interested in everything in the world, and the adult is seen as the source of all this knowledge. Questions are coming continuously:

  • Why don’t fish fly?
  • Where does the sun go?
  • Why is snow white?

The answer must be superficial, but not deceive the child. He will remember this information for life. You can ask a counter question and get a detailed answer that lifts the veil of the child’s world.

The out-of-situ-personal form begins at the age of 6-7. Here the child’s interest shifts from the world of things to people and society. The kid asks questions related to moral norms, good and evil, human relations. The child begins to evaluate himself and others, and here he still needs the support of adults, on whose opinion he relies. The need for rapport with an adult is an important part of this relationship. You can not give a child negative assessments, you can express your dissatisfaction about an act without becoming a person. By correcting the child’s behavior, you can talk about your feelings about his actions.

The way a child communicates with an adult changes with age. The pinnacle of this relationship is the last stage, which coincides with the beginning of school.
