Alexander Sergeevich was politely refused, referring to the bride’s youth. In fact, Natalya Nikolaevna’s mother wanted a better game for her! However, Pushkin did not back down – a year later he again wooed Natalya Nikolaevna and this time his proposal was accepted.

The calculating and pragmatic mother of Natalya Nikolaevna understood: there might not be a better game for her daughter! First, Pushkin is famous. Secondly, he takes her daughter without a dowry!
Under the terms of the wedding arrangement, the wedding and the bride’s dowry were all done at the expense of the groom. The material affairs of the Goncharov family were very unimportant. Perhaps that is why over the past year there have been no other candidates for the hand and heart of the young beauty. (If interested, the height of the groom is 166,7 cm, the height of the bride is 173 cm).
In May 1830, the engagement of the future spouses took place, but the wedding itself took place only 8 months later. They were married on March 2, 1831 in the Moscow church “Big Ascension” at the Nikitsky Gate.

The following is known for certain: Pushkin challenged Dantes to a duel twice. The first time Dantes found an excuse for his excessive attention to Mrs. Pushkina: he wooed her sister Catherine.
Having become a “relative” of Goncharova, Dantes was still overly familiar. At balls, he often found himself near Natalya Nikolaevna. How did Natalya Nikolaevna react to this? Compliments were probably pleasant to her, but nothing more.

After the tragic death of her husband, his widow, who was only 24 years old, was left with four young children. In seven years, Natalya Nikolaevna will marry General Lanskoy and give birth to three daughters.

Lanskoy Peter Petrovich
Pyotr Petrovich Lanskoy (1799-1877) – Russian general from the cavalry, since 1844 he was married to the widow of A.S. Pushkin. In a marriage with Natalya Nikolaevna, he had three daughters. Lanskoy survived his wife by 14 years. He was buried in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in the same grave with his wife.
