Long covid, i.e. long-term symptoms of coronavirus infection, includes many diseases. The most common words are persistent fatigue, ailments related to the respiratory system or neurological disorders, i.e. brain fog. Long covid can also appear on the feet. What exactly happens then to that part of the body?

Long covid – what is it?
Long covid (“long covid”) means long-term symptoms of coronavirus infection. The exact causes of this phenomenon are still unknown, and there is no clear standard of treatment for this ailment.
Long covid affects both those who required hospitalization for the coronavirus and those who passed the infection asymptomatically or relatively mildly. It can last up to six months after contracting the infection, although, according to more and more doctors, it can last for years.

There is also no clear data on exactly how many people suffer from long covid. Reports are so far divergent – they range from 15 to 80 percent. infected people. Most often, however, it is 30-40 percent. convalescents.
Long covid – the most common symptoms
The list of complications after COVID-19 includes over 200 ailments. They mainly concern cardiological, neurological and respiratory diseases, although in fact they may involve all organs and systems. It is rare for a patient to complain about only one ailment, most often there are several, even a dozen or so.

Patients most often report symptoms such as:
- persistent fatigue
- worse exercise endurance
- shortness of breath
- the so-called brain fog
- cough
- arthralgia
- pain in the chest.
- muscle aches,
- headaches
- insomnia
- lung damage
- myocarditis
- hair loss
- menstrual disorders
One of the symptoms of coronavirus infection are the so-called “Covid fingers”. The disease mainly affects the toes, but sometimes it also affects the fingers. At first, red spots appear on them, turning into purple discoloration, although sometimes the purple color is present from the very beginning. It happens that these changes are accompanied by swollen lumps, blisters, thickened areas or pus. Itching and irritation may appear.

Doctors often compare the sight of “covid fingers” to the lesions seen in frostbite or Raynaud’s disease. Younger people are more likely to suffer from the disease.
Swelling and discoloration may appear on several or only one finger.
Covid feet – one symptom of long covid
Changes in the feet are not only a direct result of the coronavirus infection. It is also one of the rich set of symptoms of long-term complications from COVID-19.
Some patients who have had coronavirus infection report burning and redness in the soles of their feet, sometimes followed by peeling of the skin and characteristic small patches.

Long covid causes nerve damage in many cases. Then the symptoms of neuropathy are associated with pain in the feet or impaired sensation in these places. Healers also speak of persistent, unmanageable itching in the feet.
