Classification of IVF centers: the method
This prize list, which interests many parents because a in 7 couples see for infertility problems, is based on the statistical processing of public medical data, not collected from the IVF centers themselves (which carefully keep their own data). Two major criteria were taken into account to establish this classification. First the success rate, that is, the proportion of women who give birth to a baby after each attempt at IVF. Next age of women. This criterion also appeared essential because the chances of success of an in vitro fertilization decrease with age, in particular after 35 years. The final notes thus take into account the ability of IVF centers to succeed in assisted reproduction in young but also older women.
In the ranking of the 100 establishments specializing in in vitro fertilization, certain data were deemed insignificant and were therefore not published. This is the case, for example, when the center does not perform enough IVF in women over 40. Two establishments, among the 100 listed, could not be classified. These are the University Hospitals of Strasbourg, for which anomalies in the data have been identified, and the American Hospital of Neuilly-sur-Seine, which does not wish to see its results communicated.
