Argan oil is increasingly used in both cosmetics and culinary arts. It has a rather unusual taste, and its health-promoting properties include: reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. When it comes to beauty, this oil is considered the elixir of youth because it has a wonderful effect on the skin. However, it is valued not only for these reasons!
Argan trees grow in southwestern Morocco. It is a leading export product, which is the regional number one and can be found at almost every stall, shop or hotel. Moroccans have known its properties for a thousand years, so they know that the use of argan oil is a guarantee not only of health, but also of long-lasting beauty.
What makes it so beneficial for the appearance?
First of all, its rich composition. Argan oil is a mine of valuable fatty acids and vitamin E, stigmasterol and tirukallol, which regenerate the epidermis, strengthen cells and prevent the formation of furrows, which is why it has a great effect on:
- Dry and rough skin
- scars,
- oily skin,
- Wrinkles,
- Flaking of the skin (it is recommended for people with diseases such as eczema and psoriasis).
In addition, it has an anti-inflammatory effect and protects the skin before and after exposure to the sun (it can be used as a tanning oil). The oil is cold pressed to preserve its precious properties. In Poland, we will get it in a pure, unprocessed version, as well as in the form of one of the ingredients of many cosmetics – however, it is worth checking where it was listed. If only at the end of the composition list, it is possible that there is really not much of it there.
It will be great not only for use on the skin, but also as a hair cosmetic. Moroccan women rub it into their hair as a conditioner, we can use it as a serum for split or dry ends, or as an oil massaged into the scalp – this treatment will make the strands nourished and shiny. It is best to use it as a cosmetic for hair oiling, so leave it on the scalp for a few hours or even overnight, and then wash it off with shampoo.
Use in the kitchen – a wealth of health and unique taste
Argan oil is the “caviar” among oils, because it gives dishes an oriental, unusual note. It will be an ideal addition to meat and fish dishes, as well as an excellent base for sauces and marinades. However, it should be remembered that argan oil is not fried, so it is best to add it to dishes just before serving, so that it retains as many healthy properties as possible. Consumption of argan oil improves the work of the central nervous system, brain, kidneys and liver. It also prevents peptic ulcer disease and lowers the level of bad cholesterol in favor of good, thanks to which it prevents atherosclerosis, thrombosis, coronary artery disease and hypertension.
