The Alimentaria company, from Industrias Cárnicas Tello, has achieved a milestone that will go down in the annals, as the largest hand-cut ham dish in the world.
The place chosen for the great feat was the city of Toledo on June 18, within the scope of the activities that take place on the occasion of the 2016 Spanish Capital of Gastronomy.
The previous trademark that the London organization had registered, Guinness World Record, was 300 kilos, and how could it be otherwise, the challenge surpassed the previous record by almost one hundred, specifically by 92 kilograms, leaving it at 392 kilos of Ham. cut by hand.

A large plate of ham
The main characteristic of the ambitious project is the need to be cut by hand, and for the occasion 76 professional cutters gathered in the town hall square of the city.
The Toledo company made a toral of 112 pieces of Spanish Serrano Ham available to the sharpened knives of cutting professionals, obtaining from them thousands of slices that together totaled 392 kilos of the new Guinness Record.
The way to verify what was cut and its weight was carried out in small doses, plating thin slices for each cutter in portions of 100 grams, which were weighed individually.
The final plate had a not inconsiderable surface of 140 m2, surely one of the largest seen in these latitudes, and to record all the content of the event, and its subsequent approval by the British entity, all the documentation was carried out under a notarial supervision.
After the certification and verification of the achievement obtained, the attendees who gathered at the place were able to taste for the modest price of € 1 a tapa of the delicious ham used to crown the giant plate.
The proceeds obtained from the sale of the rations will be used by the Tello meat industry for social and charitable purposes, with the entities and organizations of Cáritas, Mediterranean Challenge and the Food Bank.
