The kid saves himself

In the United States, a large number of families live in houses with a pool. And this is an extremely dangerous place for little curious children. One has only to lose vigilance for a second, how irreparable can happen …

After an increase in the number of accidents associated with the inability to swim, the American Association Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) has developed a unique way to prevent a child from drowning when falling into the pool.

A video showing the result of the training will shock any parent. Not knowing what’s what, you can get scared that the child is in a critical situation. Although in reality he, on the contrary, is saved and is not in danger.

Watch the video to the end: a child who is clearly less than a year old comes to the pool, falls into the water and … begins to save himself.

He carefully rolls over onto his back, lies down on the water and stays on the surface like a buoy. Moreover, the baby feels completely calm in this position. After that, he knows that he needs to call an adult for help, to draw attention to himself. Dad comes to his call. Just look at the joyful smiling face of the child – as if nothing terrible had happened.

The Infant Swimming Resource Association (ISR) is engaged in teaching children from six months old how to behave when falling into the water – to roll over on their backs, stay on the water and calmly wait for help. And to do all this fully clothed, that is, in the most difficult conditions.

The company was founded back in 1966 by Dr. Harvey Barnett with the goal of reducing the number of accidents. Drowning is one of the most common causes of death among children under 5 in the top ten states in the United States. At the same time, there are 5 to 7 cases of serious injury due to inability to swim per one death. Children get neurological problems, which cost about $ 3,4 million annually to treat.

Children over 2-3 years old can no longer just hold out on the water, but also, turning over on their backs, swim to the side or shore. Children repeat all rescue actions many times in order to learn how to react without delay and panic.
