The design of any room usually begins with the definition of the functions that it should perform. Far from all apartments, the hall is a front room for receiving guests. Much more often, this is simply the largest of the rooms in which they most often gather in front of the TV. And it can also be used as an office, dining room or bedroom. In any case, the interior of the hall in the apartment must be developed taking into account all types of its use.
Zoning
If the hall has several functions, it is logical to somehow divide it into zones. Moreover, it does not have to be a wall or something that replaces it. Different zones are separated more visually than physically, and this is achieved simply with the help of a two-level flow, floor and different wall decoration. We are not talking about contrasts, although you can skillfully beat them, but rather about different colors or textures in the same range.
Of course, partitions can also help with zoning. This is more often necessary if the hall is combined with a kitchen, or used as a bedroom. In this case, a physical, albeit transparent or translucent, barrier creates a more intimate room. But it is better not to do full-weight partitions in small rooms: they “eat up” space too much.
Wall decoration
Painted walls have long returned to fashion, only in a different capacity: perfectly even and ugly, without the slightest flaw, they serve as an excellent backdrop for beautiful textiles and furniture. If your walls cannot boast of an ideal flat surface, minor defects will hide the wallpaper. Their choice today is very wide – different bases, textures, all kinds of colors and shades. Moreover, one of the latest trends in design is the combination of two or more types of wallpaper. There are even special collections: one or two smooth types, and three or four patterns, all of which are combined with each other. It is easier to combine in this way – professional designers work on the collections, who have taken into account many nuances. The only negative: they are expensive and often delivered to order.

There are several ways to combine wallpaper in the hall. If the flows are low, you can visually increase the height by sticking several vertical stripes of wallpaper of a different pattern or color on the walls.
If the room is long and narrow – the so-called “trams” – then on the long wall on one side you can stick wallpaper of a different color or pattern in the middle, and hang a large mirror opposite. This visually expands the room – it looks almost like a square.
The hall also looks good if only one wall is covered with wallpaper. In this case, a predominantly large pattern is chosen. Then attention is paid most of all to this zone.
In general, they combine two, and even three shades. You can add more fragments of finishing stone or decorative plaster. The main thing is that all combinations are organic. Hall furniture
In a modern setting, the centerpiece of the room is a TV or home theater. All modern walls come from this: the center is usually left free to accommodate a large flat screen. There are modern-style furniture that easily fit into a minimalist or high-tech style, there are more classic options for a more traditional design. In any case, the furniture is not as bulky as it used to be. Sometimes it’s just a collection of several different shelves. If you need functionality, look for walls with cabinets. There are even slides, but they no longer put crystal, but some interesting things … collections, for example.
Upholstered furniture for the hall
Often in the hall there is a sleeping place – permanent or guest. Therefore, folding sofas are most often chosen, which quickly turn into a completely comfortable bed. The industry produces a lot of transformers that look attractive and comfortable. Moreover, there may be not only the usual folding sofa, but also a bed that rises on a swivel mechanism during the day and looks like a closet.
If we talk about traditional upholstered furniture for the hall – sofas and armchairs – then they are usually arranged taking into account the fact that they will watch TV while sitting on it. Accordingly, on the contrary, at a distance of at least 2-3 meters, they are located. For convenience, you can install a coffee table.
After the places for the main group are determined, they decide whether or not any more pieces of furniture are needed. If there is no need for them, it is better not to clutter up the room. Evaluate whether it “gets up” or not, and you can evaluate how the developed design will look in one of the design programs that allow you to create 3D drawings.
