The healing properties of hydrotherapy. Video
Hydrotherapy translated from Greek means “water treatment”. Ancient physicians, including the great physician Hippocrates, were well aware of the healing properties of water. To this day, hydrotherapy has been successfully used in the treatment of a number of diseases, especially those associated with problems of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system.
What properties of water have a healing effect on the body
Water has a number of qualities that help to heal a person from ailments. Firstly, it is practically incompressible, that is, any pressure from the outside spreads throughout the entire volume of water equally. This makes it possible to carry out hydromassage, which is very useful in the treatment of arthritis and other joint diseases, as well as some nervous diseases.
Hydromassage also relieves muscle tension and fatigue well.
When the human body is immersed in water, a buoyant force arises (which has been known since the time of the great scientist Archimedes). Thanks to this, a person weighs less in the water. And this is also very useful for a number of diseases – for example, the same arthritis, since the load on the joints is reduced. The combination of reduced stress and hydromassage gives a good healing effect. This combination is also useful for relieving nervous tension. The whirlpool bath soothes and relieves stress.
If you do not have the opportunity to take a bath with a hydromassage, it is quite possible to limit yourself to a regular bath.
This procedure also has a pronounced healing effect.
Finally, water has a very high heat capacity. Thanks to this, it cools slowly, keeping its original temperature for a long time. Therefore, hot baths perfectly warm the human body, promote the expansion of blood vessels, blood flow to the skin surface. And this, in turn, speeds up and improves metabolism, promotes healing from diseases.
The alternation of hot and cold water is extremely effective. This procedure helps to harden the body, strengthen immunity, relieve drowsiness and fatigue. A person who regularly uses hydrotherapy rarely gets sick, without complications.
You can replace the alternation of baths with different water temperatures with a contrast shower
However, with all the indisputable advantages of hydrotherapy, one should not forget about contraindications. A hot bath can be dangerous for people suffering from various heart diseases, hypertension, and diabetes. Hot water is contraindicated for people with a condition such as rosacea. The thing is that, under the influence of high temperature, the vessels expand, the face becomes red. Also, should not be taken by pregnant women. This also applies to contrasting baths or showers. In any case, it is advisable to first consult a doctor.
