The gym for seniors: possible and even effective
The virtues of sport on health are well established. Sport soothes, regulates, balances, strengthens the body and the mind. However, there are many who do not think they are able to undertake physical activity, starting with the elderly. The key lies in adapting the effort to the body. Anyone can play a sport regardless of their age, as long as they follow a few essential tips.

The specifics of age

With age, the body’s functional capacities and performance decline. Muscle mass melts at the expense of fat mass which increases, joint flexibility and endurance decrease as well as bone density. The maximum volume of oxygen that the body can use to perform the effort (V02 max), already begins to decrease from 20 years1. There is therefore no question of stigmatizing those over 65 because the practice of regular physical activity, even moderate, has significant virtues on the body and mind regardless of age.

The key to well-being is adaptation. A 25 year old man will not set the same goals as a 55 year old woman because he will not have the same needs or the same abilities. The diversity of sports and physical exercises offered is so wide that each person can deepen their practice at their own pace and significantly improve their quality of life.

Registering in a gym is an effective solution which is not reserved only for young people and which bears fruit on the condition of being well accompanied.
