However, doctors warn that such an operation can cause a serious infection. This became known after a number of cases. The latest serious incident was the example of a 29-year-old girl who turned to doctors for help just over a year later. A report presented at the European Congress Conference on Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases reported that the patient was admitted to the hospital with nausea and purulent tissue inflammation at the site where the drug was injected fourteen months ago. In addition, the doctors also found an infection in the patient’s fatty subcutaneous layer.
Medical workers found out that the infection was caused by bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa (it lives in water, soil, the treatment of which is difficult due to antibiotic resistance). Moreover, it is known that such a bacterium rarely causes infections of the skin and soft tissues in humans.
In the end, the patient was nevertheless prescribed a course of special medications, and after a couple of days, about 500 milliliters of the affected skin tissue were removed. Two weeks after hospitalization, the girl was discharged, and after six weeks of antibiotic treatment, the woman recovered completely.
Researchers still find it difficult to give an exact answer as to why the infection occurred a year after the operation. Apparently, this was due to dangerous bacteria that penetrated the skin along with the injected drug. It is known that special fillers of all kinds are used to tighten and enlarge the buttocks, which differ depending on the manufacturer’s brand. They are designed to be reshaped without the need for complete surgery. Injectables are often a cheaper alternative to surgical procedures using implants. They were used by doctors to correct the body of the injured girl.
“Fortunately, the treatment was not difficult due to the low level of resistance to common antibiotics. However, this case serves as a reminder that it is important to choose a reputable plastic surgeon, ”the doctors say.
