Are apartments and private houses often heated by gas appliances? Their work is controlled by sensors, and the regulators on the panel allow you to independently choose the heating temperature. It is believed that this method of heating is much more economical. But what if the gas boiler does not turn off? As a result, a lot of fuel is consumed, and the equipment is worn out. The main reasons are broken sensors, low temperature in pipes, blockages and incorrect settings. Let’s consider ways to eliminate them in detail.
Why the boiler does not turn off
The operation of wall and floor boilers is controlled by automation. Whatever model you have (Bosch, AOGV, Lemax, Navien), it should turn off when the temperature you set is reached. How does this happen:
- You set a value on the thermostat.
- Heating starts.
- The temperature sensor measures the performance.
- As soon as the desired values are reached, the sensor sends a signal to the control board, which turns off the boiler.
- As soon as the temperature in the circuit begins to decrease (this is also recorded by the sensors), the unit automatically starts.
Why is technology constantly running? Let’s analyze each point in more detail.
Automation does not turn off, the temperature sensor does not work
A similar sensor is installed on the supply and return lines. If one of them fails, the system “does not understand” that it is time to stop work, because the signal is not received. As a result, when the temperature is set, the equipment does not turn off.
What to do:
- Run sensor diagnostics.
- Check their connections, tighten the wiring.
- Clean oxidized contacts.
- Replace defective items.
You can watch the repair of the automation unit on the video:
Insufficient temperature in the heating return pipe
This happens due to poor thermal insulation of the room: windows, walls, roofs. As a result, heat losses increase, which causes the circuit to cool quickly. The unit is trying to maintain optimal values in the room. The problem is typical for double-circuit boilers “Ariston”, Panther and other brands.
You can determine the poor thermal insulation of the roof by icicles in winter. Snow accumulates at the top, as a result of a large heat loss, it melts, and icicles grow from this. And the more they are, the worse the isolation. The only way out is to additionally insulate the room or install fireplaces for heating.
The equipment does not turn off at all when liquid moves very slowly through the pipes. Possible reasons:
- Clogged filters. Clean them of debris and dirt. The coarse filter is often cut off with stopcocks on both sides. Therefore, its dismantling and cleaning is easy.
- Pump problems. Check pump adjustment. If set to minimum speed, then change to maximum.
Clogged one of the heat exchangers
Then the pump turbine will constantly work, forcing the liquid. This reduces the pressure, and the water heats up for a long time. Tap water contains potassium and magnesium salts. They settle on the parts of the heat exchanger when heated.
You can clean the tubular radiator yourself. Bithermic models are characterized by a complex design. This is a pipe, inside of which there is another cross-shaped pipe. The coolant for heating moves along one, and for hot water supply along the other. The problem is that the liquid in them heats up at the same time, as a result, scale is quickly deposited. It is not possible to clean by hand.
It is enough to dismantle a conventional coil, connect a pump to the hole and pump it with a reagent.
Be sure to rinse with running water afterwards. In order not to clean too often, experts recommend installing magnetic filters. They purify water from salts.
Other reasons
The thermostat is set to the minimum value. This temperature is not enough to heat the entire area, so adjust the settings.
Burner misadjusted. If your model has a modulating flame burner, make sure it has enough power to heat it up. It might be better to set a higher value.
The programmer on the outdoor thermostat does not work. Check the parts, if there is a problem, install the serviceable elements.
Incorrect installation, piping of the heating system. If you made the connection yourself, check the strapping sequence according to the diagram. With the slightest failure in the installation, the circuit may not function correctly.
The most serious problem is electronic board failure. It is better to entrust its diagnosis, repair and replacement to a specialist.
What can be the conclusion? The first is to choose the right equipment, taking into account its power and area of uXNUMXbuXNUMXbthe room. Second, connect only if you have similar experience. Thirdly, regularly perform technical inspection and cleaning of the boiler. These are the main criteria for long-term and successful operation.
