The fruits of July
July: it’s official, the summer season is here! With it, come the fabulous fruits that we all waited with the greatest impatience!
The fruits of July
Here are the delicious fruits of the month of July, each one juicier than the next:
- Apricots
- Brugnons
- Cassis
- Cherries
- lemons
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Passion fruit
- Currants
- melons
- Blackberries
- Blueberries
- Nectarines
- Watermelons
- peaches
To enjoy them, the best thing is to bite into the summer fruits to the fullest. Eat a piece of fruit at the end of each meal and if you feel hungry or want to eat something sweet: don’t deprive yourself to eat one more piece of fruit during the hot season. Rich in water, vitamins, fiber, minerals and antioxidants, fruits are healthy foods par excellence.
Remember that even people with diabetes can eat fruit because the correct sugar, fructose, does little to raise blood sugar. This gives the vast majority of fruits a very low GI. The only two exceptions for the fruits of the month of July are concerning the melon and the watermelon which will be consumed in small quantities (150 g), and always at the end of a complete meal.
