The fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has reached another, higher level, said the president of Warsaw Family Physicians, Dr. Michał Sutkowski, commenting on the epidemic data from October 3 (1 consecutive cases of infections). – In the coming weeks it is expected that these numbers will increase – said the doctor. According to Dr. Sutkowski, the situation in Poland is still good. – Still relatively few people are hospitalized, but this should in no way calm us down, because it will get worse. It should be expected in the coming weeks that these numbers will increase – he announced.
According to the forecasts of the president of Warsaw Family Physicians, the number of infections will increase until about mid-November, and then will remain at a certain level. – With some margin of error, I assume that in the culminating moment of the fourth wave it will be from 5 to 8. infections daily – he assessed. – Of course, it is very difficult to estimate what the daily number of infections will be, because we do not know whether the government will decide to impose regional restrictions. We also do not know how many people, under the influence of fear, will decide on the first, second or third dose of the vaccination – added the specialist.

The president of Warsaw Family Physicians also made a reservation that the most important statistic at the moment is not the number of new infections, but the number of people hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Dr. Sutkowski emphasized that the statistics show that the current situation is different in different parts of Poland. He added that in the statistics the province is the leader. Michał Sutkowski recalled that the coronavirus is not the only problem related to health protection, but it has a significant impact on its other branches, because it “closes hospitals and clinics”. – Coronavirus deprives patients with other diseases of the chance for treatment as doctors are moved to the front of the fight against coronavirus. Six people died on October 1, COVID-19, and 70 people died from lung cancer, 34 from colorectal cancer and nearly 500 people died from heart disease – heart attacks, strokes and cardiovascular diseases – he emphasized.
