The former captive of the Skopin maniac was granted state protection

Now state authorities will take care of the safety of Katya Martynova. Why did such a need arise and how did Ksenia Sobchak’s scandalous film about Viktor Mokhov affect it?

Ekaterina Martynova, one of the former captives of the Skopinsky maniac, is now officially under state protection. Security measures apply to the woman herself and to her family members. The authorities went to meet the woman who suffered from the actions of Viktor Mokhov, after her appeal to the Investigative Committee.

A criminal who held two girls in a basement under a garage next to his own house. He beat and raped the prisoners for almost four years. The girls managed to get out of captivity: they were able to pass a note that they were being forcibly held to Mokhov’s lodger, and she turned to law enforcement agencies.

Viktor Mokhov served a 17-year sentence and was released in March 2021. In an interview with Ksenia Sobchak, he spoke about the details of the violence he had committed and publicly stated that he would like to meet Martynova again. He also tried to add his former victim as a friend on social networks. Martynova considered all these facts threatening, and therefore asked for protection for herself and her family.

It also turned out that Katya Martynova had no idea what kind of film Ksenia Sobchak was going to shoot. She wrote about this on her Instagram page: “I agreed to an interview with Ksenia Sobchak, and not to participate in a film about a maniac. These are two fundamentally different things, and it is important to know and understand this.”

She was told that the program would be dedicated to the fact that in the civilized world it is unacceptable to make a popular hero out of a maniac: “For me, this was the final argument for agreeing to participate in the filming. I thought we were doing a good deed…”

In March, Katya Martynova’s book “Confessions of a Prisoner of the Dungeon” was published. On its pages, a woman shares her view of what happened. “I came out of these trials with the main lesson – never put up with circumstances. Don’t let your mind die. Only an active brain can find in a series of even the most insignificant events what will open the doors of the dungeon.
