The five parts of the body that must not be touched. The reason is important

There are places on our body that we should try not to touch. For your own good and for the sake of others. Sounds mysterious? In fact, that’s the bottom line, and the COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us of it. What is it about? We explain.

  1. By picking your nose, you introduce various types of pollutants and microorganisms, including dangerous ones, into the body. The same is true of touching your lips
  2. Moreover, if you are sick, touching your lips is a way of spreading germs to other people (e.g. by shaking hands)
  3. About 1500 bacteria live on every centimeter of the skin of our hands. By touching parts of the body, we spread microbes through them

During the day, we constantly touch something, and each object and each surface is a small, separate world of microorganisms, also dangerous. Have you ever wondered what the consequences are? Suffice it to say that about 1500 bacteria live on every centimeter of the skin of our hands. Microbes – and not only – are very easily transferred from our hands to sensitive parts of the body. Hence, it is so important to frequently and thoroughly wash / disinfect your hands, but also refrain from touching these delicate areas. Which ones specifically?

Keep your hands away from your face

Within an hour, we touch our own face several times, usually unconsciously. However, it is worth working on getting rid of this habit (skipping the care activities, of course). Our hands are full of bacteria and just touching the face causes the germs to spread over its surface. Microbiologist Matthew Lee also reminds that substances present on our hands can clog pores and aggravate acne. “Germs on your fingers can intensify this effect,” she emphasizes, also warning against the habit of squeezing pimples.

Keep your hands out of your eyes

Our eyes are very sensitive. Touching them can introduce not only microorganisms, but also microparticles of dirt. Hence the straightforward path to infection and irritation. If you have to touch your eyes, wash your hands thoroughly beforehand. Also, resist the urge to rub your eyes, it also increases your risk of developing infection and inflammation.

Keep your hands away from your ears

The inside of our ears is delicate and very susceptible to damage, so it is worth resisting the urge to apply the cotton buds deeply. Matthew Lee warns: “The skin that lines the ear canal is very thin and prone to microtrauma” and recommends seeing an otolaryngologist if you have problems with your ears.

Keep your hands away from your nose and mouth
