The first launch of the dishwasher is a holiday for any housewife. And although after buying and installing the equipment you can’t wait to load the baskets with dishes and try the machine in action, we advise you not to rush. Read the instruction manual first. If the manufacturer has not indicated how to start the dishwasher for the first time, our article will help you.
Dishwasher test run
Before starting the PMM Bosch, Siemens, Hansa for the first time, you need to carry out a test wash without dishes. Some parts inside the hopper may be factory lubricated, dust and small debris cannot be ruled out. Therefore, do not rush to immediately put the dishes.
Benefits of a test run:
- Keeps the camera free of debris.
- Allows you to check the quality of connections, correct connection.
- Check heater, temperature settings.

Remove all packaging material and stickers from the camera. Then:
- Turn the atomizer by hand, make sure it rotates properly.
- Pull out the filter, check the integrity.
- There is a salt reservoir next to the filter. Open the lid, fill the compartment with water and fill with product. Which salt is better to choosecan be found in the article.
If your Gorenje, Kuppersberg or other brand model has a water hardness control, set it to the desired value. The greater the hardness of the water, the greater the value should show the regulator. Find out the hardness of the water it is possible, using a test strip, according to the regional stiffness table.
- Put one tablet in the detergent drawer or fill in the gel as indicated on the package. The dispenser is located on the inside of the door.
- In the control panel, specify the type of tool you are using.
- Set a long program at high temperature.
- Start the washer by pressing the “Start” button.
It is advisable to monitor the operation of the dishwasher during the test wash in order to detect problems in time. What you need to pay special attention to:
- Water intake.
- Heat.
- Waste water drain.
- Drying.
If everything is in order, let the car cool down. Having figured out how to use the PMM, you can make the 1st launch.
Salt and rinse aid are loaded for several cycles. The indicators on the panel will inform about their completion. But the detergent must be added before each wash.
First wash
After the machine has cooled down and dried out, you can start loading the devices. For effective dishwashing, follow the rules:
- Clean dishes thoroughly to remove food debris.
- Place large appliances (pans, pots) in the bottom drawer. Make sure that the dishes do not block the sprayer. Place the plates in the middle basket. Do not place them close together, otherwise they will not wash well. Place your cutlery in the top compartment.
In many Siemens, Samsung, Ariston models, the baskets with dishes are height-adjustable, and the holders fold. Therefore, loading large devices is much more convenient.
- Add detergent and rinse aid to the dispenser (if you did not do this during the test run). Close the branch.
- How to enable the desired program? Take a look at the instructions. Depending on the degree of soiling, you can select “Fast Cycle”, “Intensive” or “Delicate”. In modern PMM there are sensors that automatically determine the degree of loading and select the optimal program.
- Click on “Start” and wait for the end of the cycle.
The technical specifications indicate whether there is an audible signal after the end of the cycle. This is how the machine notifies the user of the completion of work. Instead of a signal, there may be a “Beam on the floor”. The beam is red during the program and green at the end.
Take out the dishes and evaluate them according to the following criteria:
- cleanliness, shine, smell;
- drying quality, no streaks.
If there are stains, dirt on the dishes, transparent plates look dull and cloudy, do not rush to blame the machine. You need to experiment with loading and detergents. So:
- Improper positioning of the plates leads to residual dirt on the surface.
- The wrong rinse aid has been selected, so the glassware is cloudy.
- A strong chemical odor may indicate that the dosage of detergent powder has been exceeded.
Rules for using PMM
Precautions are indicated in any instructions for Electrolux, Bosch, Kupersberg machines. By following them, you will extend the life of your equipment:
- Do not touch the PMM body with wet hands after switching on.
- Do not connect appliances through an extension cord.
- Clean the drain filter after the wash cycle.
- Once every six months, clean the machine with special tools.
